POSITION OVERVIEW
TheTradeshow /Finish Carpenterspecializes in the skilled construction, assembly, and dismantling of temporary structures, booths, and exhibits for trade shows, conventions, and events. TheTradeshow /Finish Carpenteris also responsible for the detailed and precise woodworking tasks that bring a polished look to a building's interior and exterior. These professionals focus on adding the finishing touches to construction projects, ensuring that the final appearance meets aesthetic and functional standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Building booths, displays, and stages from raw materials or prefabricated components.
• Setting up and securing these structures within a venue, sometimes involving rigging for hanging signs and banners.
• Taking down the entire exhibit after the show concludes, managing logistics and equipment dispersal.
• Fit and install trim, molding, baseboards, staircases, cabinets, windows, doors, and other detailed woodwork.
• Design and build custom furniture, shelves, and decorative items as needed.
• Restore or repair damaged or worn woodwork to maintain the quality of interiors or exteriors.
• Accurately measure spaces and materials and use saws and other tools to cut wood to precise dimensions.
• Sand, stain, paint, or varnish wood surfaces to achieve the desired finish.
• Work closely with clients, architects, and contractors to ensure alignment with design specifications and project timelines.
• Operate tools and machinery safely and maintain a clean and hazard-free workspace.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
DESIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & QUALIFICATIONS
• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have a minimum of 1 year experience in trade show and finish carpentry.
• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machinery.
• Precision and attention to detail to create flawless finishes.
• Ability to interpret and execute designs and plans accurately.
• Capable of lifting heavy materials, standing, bending, and working in various conditions.
• Ability to adapt designs and materials to solve onsite challenges.
• Efficiently complete tasks to meet deadlines.
• Must possess basic problem-solving skills.
• Must possess rigging skills
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS//
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times.
• Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
• Physically demanding and require an active and hands-on approach.
