You will serve as a Traffic Management Specialist in the Supply Management Department of NAVSUP FLC NORVA GF.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

In addition to the Individual Occupation Requirements your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower (GS-07) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Examples of specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Knowledge of transportation modes, traffic management policies, consignment instructions, rate solicitations; 2) Ability to identify needs and problems using automated information systems; 3) Ability to plan, manage, and review own workload; 4) Knowledge of transportation systems, methods and related services for counseling personal property shipments, calculating shipment costs, reconciling shipment errors, assisting with filing loss and damage claims.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

A master's or equivalent graduate degree in accounting, business administration, business or commercial law, commerce, economics, engineering finance, industrial management, statistics, traffic management, transportation, motor mechanics, or other fields related to the position.

OR

Two full years of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a master's degree in accounting, business administration, business or commercial law, commerce, economics, engineering finance, industrial management, statistics, traffic management, transportation, motor mechanics, or other fields related to the position.

OR

LL.B. or J.D., if related

OR

A certificate as a Certified Member, American Society of Transportation and Logistics. Possession of a certificate as Certified Member, American Society of Transportation and Logistics meets the requirements for GS-5. Persons with such certificates may also qualify for higher grade levels based on their education and/or experience.
