Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced PICU RN for a night shift position in a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center, requiring an active OR RN license and PICU expertise.
Responsibilities
• Work in a 20-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit within a Magnet, Level I Pediatric Trauma teaching hospital
• Provides care for critically ill or injured pediatric patients from birth to young adulthood with diverse diagnoses including trauma, surgery, cardiac, respiratory, hematology/oncology, and neurologic disorders
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 19:00–07:30), including weekends
• Uses Hamilton G5 Ventilators, DirectLink ICP Monitors, Artic Sun Targeted Temperature Management, and Baxer Prismaflex Machines
• Epic EMR experience is required
• Floating required within the hospital to NICU and other pediatric units; no floating to sister hospitals
• Block scheduling accommodation is not available
• Daily responsibilities include management of critically ill pediatric patients and participation in advanced bedside procedures such as central line and arterial line placements, lumbar punctures, intubation/extubation, CRRT, ECMO cannulation/decannulation, and emergent operative interventions
• Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team including intensivists, respiratory therapists, nutritionists, therapists, social workers, and child life specialists
• Orientation modules are assigned and completed prior to start
• Scrubs are provided for OR; no prints allowed
• All time-off requests must be outlined during the application and may not exceed 2 weeks
• First-time travelers with CVPICU experience will be considered
• Local candidates are accepted at the same rate as travelers
Requirements
• Active OR RN license required; pending license accepted if application is submitted to the licensing board
• Minimum 2 years of recent PICU RN experience required
• Current BLS and PALS certifications required; NRP preferred
• Epic EMR experience is required
• Two recent supervisor or manager references from the past 24 months (alternate policy allowed if not possible)
• COVID-19 vaccination proof required; no exemptions
• Must provide last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth for consideration
• Must have return-to-work clearance if formerly employed; must have at least 6 months break before returning as a traveler
• No background or license hits accepted
