Job Description
LS Technologies, LLC is seeking a highly motivated, energetic, results-oriented UAS Subject Matter Expert. The incumbent will have experience with enterprise strategy, technology insertions/adoption, strategic messaging and critical thinking. A strong background with the FAA NAS is highly desirable. The UAS SME will provide strategic engineering, technical and program office support to the Federal Aviation Administration as they consider benefits new and emerging technologies will provide.
UAS and UTM: This position focuses on the integration of UAS and UTM within the NAS environment. Work will center on both registration and certificate control for authentication and identity. The candidate will support the development of the UAS infrastructure architecture strategy, accounting for the need to operate within the trust framework.
Responsibilities
The UAS SME will help define and analyze Enterprise Information Management (EIM) and National Airspace System (NAS) data flows from critical infrastructure to data that resides in a non-NAS environment, tracking the complete end to end flow. Key to the architecture design is the requirement to separate data flows to enclaves segmented by priority/sensitivity of traffic. As part of the architecture evolution, this team will develop strategies for the incorporation of Artificial Intelligence technology into the NAS environment as it pertains to network anomaly detection and system mapping of data flows.
Other responsibilities include:
- Provide technical subject matter expert support to government personnel leading technology strategy development, requirements analysis, integration, and testing activities for UAS solutions.
- Serve as a technical subject matter expert advisor for government-led CUAS programs.
- Maintain awareness of the current state-of-the-art, identify capability gaps, and make technical predictions for future technology advancement for UAS systems and UAS solutions.
- Evaluate emergent technologies across a wide variety of disciplines for potential applicability to UAS applications.
- Generate and present briefings and technical assessments for UAS technology to technical and non-technical audiences, including executive-level government personnel.
- Serve as a technical subject matter expert advisor while representing FAA at briefings, seminars, conferences, workshops, colloquia, and other working groups, in support of government efforts to identify and evaluate new technologies.
- Serves as an independent technical advisor for the government when interfacing with vendors.
- Performs other duties as required.
Requirements
- 16+ years relevant work experience in security frameworks.
- Experience with Federal policies and directives concerning information technology, cybersecurity, or infrastructure protection is required
- Experience working with FAA NAS or similar industrial control system cybersecurity is highly desirable.
- General Networking skills.
- Self-starter with a high level of personal accountability, strong communication skills and business acumen.
- Ability to interact, develop, engineer and communicate collaboratively at the highest technical levels with customers, vendors, partners, and all members of staff.
- Successful track record of transition and operational implementation of mission critical systems/capabilities into a cloud architecture.
- Experience performing risk assessments of cloud-based systems, designing and/or implementing network, security, virtualization or cloud system solutions.
- Strong communication and technical writing skills necessary to prepare and conduct instruction, provide technical briefings and prepare technical reports and collaborate with other team members.
Education
- BS in Engineering, Hard Sciences, Mathematics or related field.
