Job Description
Urologic Oncology Fellowship – University of California, Irvine
Join a premier academic center driving the future of urologic cancer care.
The Department of Urology at the University of California, Irvine invites applications for its one or two-year, Urologic Oncology Fellowship. Based in Southern California at an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, this fellowship provides an unparalleled opportunity to train with world-renowned leaders in urologic oncology, while living in one of the most desirable regions in the country. This is a *paid* position with the option of taking Urology call with resident coverage.
Program Highlights:
Comprehensive Surgical Training
Fellows gain high-volume experience across the full breadth of urologic oncology — including prostate, bladder, kidney, testicular, adrenal and penile cancers — with robust training in both open and robotic techniques. The program offers a uniquely high volume of complex oncologic procedures including robotic cystectomy with intracorporeal diversion, retroperitoneal lymph node dissection, and nephrectomy with IVC thrombectomy.
 Multidisciplinary Exposure
Fellows participate in integrated rotations with medical oncology, radiation oncology, radiology, and genitourinary pathology, providing a 360-degree understanding of cancer care. Bi-weekly multidisciplinary tumor boards offer opportunities for collaborative decision-making and longitudinal patient management.
Clinical Trials & Research
Fellows are actively involved in investigator-initiated, cooperative group, and industry-sponsored clinical trials, with support from a dedicated clinical trials unit. UCI is a leader in molecular imaging (PSMA PET), focal therapy, and translational genomics, and fellows are encouraged to contribute to ongoing research or develop independent projects. The fellowship includes protected research time and support for conference presentation and publication.
Academic & Professional Development
Fellows have access to extensive academic resources and mentorship to help them launch successful careers in academic or high-level clinical practice. Graduates of the program will be well-positioned for leadership roles in urologic oncology nationwide.
Why UC Irvine?
