Subtext is an award-winning text subscription platform designed to make it easy for creators, thought leaders, brands, media companies and more to text with their biggest supporters.

As a member of our product team, you will have a direct impact on driving user-centered design initiatives through actionable research insights.

We built Subtext because we know texting is the way to have authentic and meaningful conversations, bypassing algorithms, spam and trolls. We believe our clients should own the relationship with their fans versus renting it from social platforms. In doing so we created a solution that complements the simplicity of texting and optimizes it to allow for mass messaging, 1:1 conversation, and subscription level monetization. Based on that work we were named Digiday’s 2020 Membership / Subscription Product of the Year.

The role:

• Conduct research on competitive platforms and tools for usability and user experience
• Analyze our existing platform for opportunities to introduce new features and improvements to address customer needs, with the understanding of business objectives and constraints
• Design and conduct user surveys, task analysis, and usability tests to define user requirements and benchmark product KPIs
• Compile client and end-user behavioral data and present actionable solutions/recommendations in the form of wireframes, process flows, user personas, and user journey maps
• Document all research initiatives and execution steps from concept to validation, and contribute to the Product Wiki
• Stay up to date with research best practices and develop industry knowledge and expertise
• Assist with the formation of a Customer Advisory Board and help set the product strategy agenda of CAB meetings
• Work cross functionally with key members of the sales, operations, customer service and engineering teams as well as the founders to improve the product

What you’ll bring to the table:

• A creative problem solver who brings a highly analytical approach to uncovering user needs, client goals and requirements
• Someone who is comfortable working autonomously and has solid time management skills to be able to manage projects so that research insights and suggestions can be incorporated early in the product design process
• A self-starter who thrives in start-up environments and is comfortable working with remote teams
• A portfolio with examples demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of UX research methods, usability standards, modern UI design patterns, and information architecture
• Excellent communication, organization, and documentation skills. You’re someone who can simplify complex ideas and explain them to anyone who isn’t a designer or engineer in a way they can understand.
• Knowledge of Figma, usability testing platforms (ie. UserTesting, UserZoom, etc.) and other UX/UI design tools. Familiarity with Salesforce, Gong, Notion, and Typeform a plus.
• 2+ years product/UX experience
• You have a good sense of humor and can check your ego at the door
