Job Summary

The VP of Product Management for Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) at Workiva, defines the global product strategy for Workiva’s ESG and Sustainability solution area and influences business strategy through organizational leadership and management. This role develops key strategies for solving critical problems for Workiva’s ESG and Sustainability customers and drives them to success through advocacy, influence, and directing product development. The VP defines the product vision and strategy across ESG and Solution domain areas but also collaborates across Workiva's solutions in finance, risk, and audit to ensure Workiva's global leadership in the market, as well as championing our customers' success. 

What You'll Do:

Product Management Leadership and Stakeholder Relationship Management: Drives the work of the ESG Product Management team, identifying ESG and Sustainability macro-trends and defining related software product requirements with a focus on the needs of the global ESG and Sustainability teams and professionals. Leads the decision-making through ambiguity to deliver world class products through the ability to make decisions with imperfect data, building hypotheses, and validating them with a data-centric approach. 

  • Strategic Vision: Ability to envision strategic pathways and seize growth opportunities in a competitive market setting. Encourages growth, innovation, and collaboration so that product managers and their teams are operating at a high level of performance. Specifically, will ensure the ESG solution and platform capabilities are aligned with the broader Workiva Platform vision

  • User-Centric Approach: Ensure deep comprehension of user needs, behaviors, and pain points, with a commitment to delivering customer value while driving commercial outcomes

  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Proficient in utilizing data analytics, user feedback, and market research to inform product decisions, prioritize initiatives, and set timelines

  • Customer and Partner Engagement: Proven ability to engage effectively with customers, partners, and internal customer and partner success teams, gathering feedback, validating hypotheses, and ensuring alignment with product strategy and goals

  • Proactive Leadership: Track record of effectively driving strategic purpose, focus, and priorities forward within a complex organizational structure, actively defining features, requirements, timelines, and prioritization

  • Product Expertise: Act as Product Management subject matter expert for ESG and Sustainability to share best practices across the company

  • Effective Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, adept at engaging and influencing senior leadership at various levels

  • Agile Methodologies: Familiarity with Agile methodologies and best practices for product development and delivery, with a hands-on approach to iterative development and prioritization

  • Stakeholder Management: Partners with functional, engineering, and product executives across the company. Including, but not limited to: Collaboration with Product Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, Partners, and Professional Service teams to ensure that customer requirements are fully met. And, influences future business strategy at the leadership and executive levels

People Leadership: Builds a strong and inclusive organization with high levels of employee engagement by attracting and developing talent and rewarding high performing teams and individuals.

  • Manages operations staffing, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation, and disciplinary actions

What You'll Need:

Minimum qualifications 

  • 15+ years of progressive relevant experience in product management, preferably in the software development or technology areas

  • Undergraduate Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field

Preferred qualifications

  • A deep understanding of the complexities of the environmental, social and governance (ESG) space through direct experience 

  • 7+ years of people management experience including leading directors and managers in a product organization

  • Proven success driving product strategy and product releases in a comparable environment or direct software development environment

  • MBA preferred

  • Knowledge and experience working in an Agile development environment a plus

  • Expertise in product development from conception to market, successfully defining and delivering complex software products through the entire product lifecycle

  • Proven track record of leading and developing high performing product teams

  • Ability to collaborate with and influence executive leadership

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate across the organization with all levels of leadership and management

  • Entrepreneurial experience managing multiple functions of an operation

Working Conditions & Travel Requirements

  • Reliable internet access for any period of time working remotely, not in a Workiva office.

  • Up to 25% travel and occasionally more during product launches

How You’ll Be Rewarded

Salary range in the US: $227,000.00 - $309,000.00

A discretionary bonus typically paid annually

Restricted Stock Units granted at time of hire

401(k) match and comprehensive employee benefits package

The salary range represents the low and high end of the salary range for this job in the US. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience and other relevant factors.
