Role overview
The VP of Compliance is responsible for supporting the COO in building Brigit’s compliance function. The role includes working closely on understanding what is a fast paced regulatory environment and staying abreast of policy, while ensuring that Brigit remains proactive in managing these changes. In addition, this position will support monitoring and testing engagements including identifying findings, creating remediation plans and working with business partners to address identified deficiencies. This role will also support the annual risk assessment process for Brigit’s operations, review current policies and procedures and draft new ones as necessary. The successful candidate must have outstanding communication skills, an ability to anticipate and deliver on the needs of a fast-paced and innovative business, and the flexibility to simultaneously manage a wide range of projects. This position will report to the COO and work closely with the Head of Legal.
What you have
-
7+ years of Banking (preferably lending) and Compliance Experience
-
2+ years of experience at a Fintech company (preferably B2C) in a regulatory compliance role
-
Specific compliance and regulatory knowledge relevant for consumer depository accounts, debit cards, and consumer creditÂ
-
Experience working with product/technology partners to discover and establish requirements; implement product-related changes
-
Solid understanding of the US Regulatory Framework and Alphabet Regulations, US Privacy laws and regulations
-
Experience working on policy and regulatory affairs, staying on top of regulation and working with lobbyists as engagement on a state by state basis becomes necessary; comfortable working with regulators and policy makers

Has a Compliance Testing, Bank Regulatory or Internal Audit Background

Able to learn quickly and dissect complicated issues within a large and complex financial institution

Solid understanding of US Privacy laws and regulations
-
Ability to generate reports via Power BI or similar software

CRCM Certification (a plus)

JD/LLB/LLM (a plus)
What you’ll be doing
-
Maintain, review, and operationalize compliance programs to adequately address the needs of a fintech, using data and technology whenever possible to efficiently implement policies, procedures, and monitoring activities

Develop, manage, and update banking & lending compliance programs including: Privacy (GLBA and CCPA/CPRA) Regulation Z (Truth in Lending), Regulation E (Electronic Funds Transfers), Reg DD (Truth in Savings), state lending regulations, UDAAP, BSA, AML, and KYC

Build a depth of understanding of our current and future products, and the compliance related issuesÂ

Collaborate with internal teams, external legal counsel, and bank partners to implement compliance risk management systemsÂ

Analyze and advise the team on changes in regulatory compliance laws, rules, and regulations, and evolve Brigit’s compliance frameworks as neededÂ

Stay up-to-date on new federal and state laws that govern Brigit’s products and operations with regulators and lawmakersÂ

Work with other companies in the formation of trade associations, collaborative research and other policy agendas that can help our industry thrive as it grows

Develop scope, process flows, design evaluation, testing evaluations to ensure risk controls are implemented, functioning properly, and are being executed properly.

Evaluate findings and formulating conclusions in written reports on compliance assessments, required schedules, worksheets and narrative materials.

Lead the annual risk assessment process of applicable laws and regulations.

Review policies and procedures on a scheduled basis and draft new ones as applicable.

Evaluate marketing and advertising media for regulatory compliance

Manage team of compliance analysts.
The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $180,000 - $210,000. This range does not include any other compensation components or other benefits for which an individual may be eligible. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
