S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual to coordinate ourweldingfunction. As awelder, you’ll be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team. The Welder-Intermediate is responsible for performing various welding tasks to assemble metal structures and parts. The role involves using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments. This position requires adherence to safety protocols, precision in execution, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment to ensure the production of high-quality welded products. Key Responsibilities: • Execute moderately complex welding operations to join, fabricate, and repair metal and other weldable material such as stainless steel. • Set up and operate manual and semi-automatic (robotic) welding equipment including MIG and TIG welding, including turntable MIG. • Read and interpret moderately complex blueprints, diagrams, specifications, and job orders to determine appropriate welding processes. • Ensure welding is completed to the required standards and specifications. • Inspect welded surfaces and structures to identify defects and ensure conformity with specifications. Deburr pieces to create appropriate welding services when necessary. • Move materials, parts, equipment and other items using material handling equipment (ie. Lifts, hoists, hand trucks. etc) ensuring safety practices are diligently followed. • Robotic Welders: Operate and program robotic welding equipment. Set up robotic welding systems for production runs. Monitor robotic welding operations and make necessary adjustments to ensure quality. Troubleshoot and resolve issues with robotic welding equipment. • Maintain welding equipment in good working condition. • Work collaboratively with team members and other departments to achieve production goals. • Record and report production data accurately and timely. • Participate in and identify continuous improvement initiatives to enhance welding processes. • Meet department targets and consistently adhere to quality and safety standards. • Understand and comply with all applicable Company policies and rules. • Maintain regular and punctual attendance. • Attend in-person or virtual meetings as requested or required. • Communicate effectively and respectfully with others. • Understand and comply with all applicable Company policies and rules. • Other responsibilities as assigned. What you’ll Need To Succeed: • 3-4 years of demonstrated experience in a welding role in a manufacturing, automotive, or related environment. • Sound understanding of welding techniques, metallurgy, and welding symbols. • Knowledge of safety standards related to welding and metalworking. • Ability to pass a welding skills test. • Sound understanding of the properties and characteristics of metals used in welding. • Understanding of welding equipment maintenance and troubleshooting. • Robotic Welders: Understanding of robotic welding systems and programming. Knowledge of robotic welding setup and maintenance. Familiarity with robotic welding software and troubleshooting techniques. • Ability to perform MIG, stick, and flux-cored arc welding techniques. • Proficient in reading and interpreting moderately complex blueprints, drawings, and specifications. • Good attention to detail to ensure precision in welding tasks. • Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity. • Ability to set up, operate, and maintain welding equipment and tools. • Well-rounded problem-solving skills to identify and resolve welding-related issues. • Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and supervisors. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Physical demands: • Standing: Continuously required to stand and perform tasks • Lifting & Carrying: Infrequently required to solo or team lift and/or carry items, exercising sound judgment to employ manual handling or machine lifts where required, and risk assessments, if appropriate • Walking: Infrequently required to walk moderate distances • Pushing: Occasional pushing of motorized material handling carts with loaded weights up to 1000 lbs. • Low Posture: Infrequently required to perform tasks using a low posture, including but not limited to stooping, bending, crawling, crouching, kneeling, or squatting • Position Self/ Move: Infrequently required to position self to perform tasks involving but not limited to reaching, twisting, rotating, and pushing/pulling • Manual dexterity: Infrequently required to use hand-eye coordination to control both hands and arms for a full range of motion to operate equipment/machinery/power tools/office productivity equipment • Ascending/ descending: Infrequently ascending or descending ladders/stairs/scaffolding/ramps/poles • Observation/ Eyesight: Infrequently required to observe details at close range including depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to differentiate between colors S&C Electric is committed to equal-opportunity employment.
