POSITION SUMMARY:
The Welder is a member of the Chassis Department and is responsible for installation and welding the main structure of the modified vehicle. Technician work teams are responsible for keeping production flowing, for meeting performance goals and for maintaining the high-level of quality that consumers expect from our products. This is a “safety sensitive” position; therefore, the employee must adhere to all OSHA and Standard Operating Procedures that have been put into place.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Level 1 Master the ability to weld for three (3) separate functions on the vehicle.
• Maintains regular attendance and excellent punctuality.
• You must be a solid team player and support your peers.
• Ability to weld precisely per specifications. Duties will include the following, dependent upon the assigned station:
• Precut bottom of vehicle frame using Plasma cutter
• Position frame to the body of the vehicle using jigs
• Weld floor to the van
• Removal of the OEM floor
• Weld interior front, back and side panels
• Trim parts out of A/B/C pillars to ensure proper fitting of panels
• Weld rear structure onto the vehicle
• Weld remaining interior panels (as needed)
• Weld motor mounts to frame for support
• Weld other assorted parts
• Weld door jambs
• Use a variety of hand and power tools following appropriate methods and procedures to complete required tasks including, but not limited to, plasma cutter, welding machine and Sawzall
• Work in semi-confined space with two or more welders
• Cross train in other areas of department as needed
• Maintains regular attendance and excellent punctuality
• Read, learn, understand and interpret work instructions, and other instructions written or verbal, to complete labor-intensive tasks to the materials according to established guidelines and quality standards
• All other duties assigned
ENVIRONMENT:
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts. The employee is also exposed to a variety of extreme weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly working in a very hot and semi-confined area.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to get in/out of the vehicle with ease.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear. The employee is required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Production experience a plus
• Plasma cutting experience required
• Efficiency welding with no defects and within required production cycle times
• Must pass welding test
• While rare, must be available to work overtime and/or weekends based on business needs
• Must possess ability to work and cope well under pressure in fast paced environment and within production cycle times
• Strong attention to detail, quality focused and willingness to learn
• Ability to work in a team environment and be flexible to change
• Honest, ethical and handles things in a professional manner
