Welder/Fabricator

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and certified Welder with strong machine maintenance experience to join our team at an international bakery manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing precision welding, fabrication, and hands-on maintenance of bakery production equipment to ensure optimal operation, efficiency, and food safety compliance. Key Responsibilities: Welding & Fabrication (40%) • Perform TIG and MIG welding on stainless steel, aluminum, and mild steel, primarily for food-grade applications. • Fabricate, modify, and repair equipment parts, frames, conveyors, hoppers, and machine guards to meet operational and safety requirements. • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols. • Ensure all welding and fabrication work meets sanitary standards for food production environments. Machine Maintenance (60%) • Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on bakery production machinery including mixers, ovens, conveyors, dividers, and packaging equipment. • Troubleshoot mechanical and minor electrical issues with production equipment. • Replace or repair bearings, belts, chains, shafts, motors, sensors, and other mechanical components. • Collaborate with production teams to minimize downtime and support continuous improvement initiatives. Qualifications: Required: • Certified Welder (AWS or equivalent). • Minimum 3 years of industrial welding and machine maintenance experience, preferably in a food manufacturing or processing environment. • Proficient in MIG/TIG welding and general metal fabrication techniques. • Experience with pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems. • Knowledge of safety and sanitation regulations in food manufacturing. Preferred: • Experience in bakery or other food production environments. • Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems). • Basic knowledge of PLC troubleshooting is a plus. • Bilingual English/Spanish Skills & Attributes: • Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills. • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team. • Good communication and documentation skills. • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends or nights, as needed. Working Conditions: • Fast-paced manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, flour dust, noise, and moving machinery. • Requires standing, lifting (up to 50 lbs), bending, and climbing ladders.
