Back-End Developers in Linux Distribution Test on IBM Z are the backbone of our strategic initiatives to debug design code test and provide industry-leading solutions that make the world run today – planes take off on time bank transactions complete in the blink of an eye and the world remains safe because of the work our software developers do.
We make sure that Linux Distributions from RedHat SuSE and Canonical are running perfect on IBM Z and IBM LinuxOne to guarantee the best possible client experience.
The developers in our team work in a highly agile development environment and are responsible for the entire software development lifecycle – from the design and implementation of new product features to testing for industry-leading quality assurance and continuous product delivery.

Your Role and Responsibilities

As Back-End Developer for Linux on IBM Z you will be part of a team that drives technical innovation on the IBM zSystems platform. In this role you will be critical for the market success by ensuring that the code quality drives excellent customer experience.
You will be responsible for in depth testing of Linux Distributions in combination with newest IBM Z systems hardware in several combinations. You will be part of an experienced team of software developers and testers working around creation of open source and Linux kernel code. This includes planning maintaining and executing automated integration and regression tests (test models and test cases.)
This includes:
• Responsibility for execution of test concepts and implementation of continuous testing.
• Development of procedures in the area of test automation.
• Write clear and detailed technical specifications and documentation.
• Further develop the test infrastructure (tooling CI/CD reporting)
• Collaborate in a global team with focus on test automation

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• Experience with Linux preferable with Linux on IBM Z Linux command line tools
• Knowledge about scripting languages like Bash
• High familiarity with Git
• Experience on how to debug Linux
• Very good knowledge of German and English both written and spoken

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

• Bachelor’s degree with a background in information science computer science
• Basic knowledge of KVM
• Understanding of Linux I/O Architecture on IBM Z
• Jenkins and process automation
