Job Description
This position is responsible for assisting the Sr. Underwriters with the review and completion of residential loan file submissions This role is full-time and is non-exempt. This position has no supervisory responsibilities and reports to Director of Wholesale Underwriting, Underwriting AVP, or Underwriting Support Team Managers.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Provide Assistance in clearing of specified underwriting conditions within the Jr. Underwriter’s authority. (Lending authority to be approved by Corporate Underwriting. Lending authority for a Jr. Underwriter will be Level I or II)
- Assist in developing best practices for working with the Sr. Underwriters to perform accurate data validation of file information and updating the system of record based on the final underwriting decision.
- Manage and run quality control tools – i.e. Fraudguard, Early Check, LQA, Homevision
- Collaborate with CSRs, Sales, Brokers, and Mini-Correspondent brokers.
- Oversee specific change of circumstance requests and the final clear to close documents for loan files. (Following a pre-closing checklist)
- Ensure compliance with FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, and USDA guidelines. As well as Plaza’s program guidelines.

Required Skills
- Experience with Conventional and Government mortgage programs.
- Proficiency with reports for DU and LPA. FHA connection, and USDA GUS is preferred but not required.
- Capability of handling and meeting deadlines; and prioritizing in fast-paced environment with a heavy volume
- Ability to multi-task and communicate effectively.
Education/Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Previous underwriting or processing background
