Summary
About the Position: This position is with Defense Health Agency, Mental Health Clinic located at the Ireland Army Health Clinic, Fort Knox, KY. This position serves as Inpatient/Outpatient Mental Health (IBH) Psychology Technician, providing individualized and group, direct and indirect patient care to clients that are primarily active-duty military soldiers and other eligible personnel, and consultation.
Hours: 0800-1630

Duties
Assist in developing patient treatment plan based on interview data, observations, reports of others, review of records, psychological test results, and physical and mental status of the client.
Perform intake and ongoing mental status evaluations for patients.
Consult with clinics/services within the hospital to facilitate efficient delivery of psychological services.
Monitor the use of hazardous items.
Assist with interpreting data and providing treatment recommendations.

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
This position is subject to a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment.
This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis.
This position requires that you obtain and maintain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
Must obtain within 6 months of employment and maintain Prevention and Management of Disruptive Behavior (PMBD) required training
This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
Lifting up to 40 pounds may be required.
Position is designated as Inclement Weather Essential. The incumbent must make every attempt to report for work on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.
This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
This position has a TDY or business travel requirement of 5% of the time to various locations. This may require travel on military aircraft, ships, and vehicles.

In order to qualify, you must meet the Experian and/or Education requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which conducting intake for behavioral health patients, educating and/or counseling behavioral health patients, and maintaining patient records. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
OR
Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Psychology, Human Services, Child & Family Welfare, Counseling, (ex. Crisis, substance abuse, mental health, chemical dependence), Family and Community Services, Behavioral Science, Human Development, Social Work, Sociology, Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling.
Education
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university. Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.

One year trial/probationary period may be required.
Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement.
