Summary About the Position: Provides comprehensive clinical pharmacy support by ensuring safe and accurate medication use, developing individualized dosing, guiding medication evaluations, providing drug information and patient education, performing key clinical preparation tasks, and assisting with medication distribution when needed. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation Duties Analyze medication for accuracy, incompatibilities, contraindications, and appropriate doses. Develop individual dosing regimens based upon pharmacokinetics of drugs employed, disease states and medication history of the patient. Assist medical staff in designing, coordinating and accomplishing an effective medication utilization evaluation (MUE) program to promote and sustain optimal therapeutic effectiveness and reduce waste. Support and provide routine and complex drug information to patients, physicians, and other staff through literature analysis and research. Provide drug education to patients on correct use of medications, potential side effects and unique medication packaging through verbal and written means. Perform tasks related to clinical service, e.g., preparing discharge medications, bedside medication, medication labeling, and adjusting specific intravenous drug preparations. When required, perform medication distribution functions to include filling, checking, counseling, and dispensing of outpatient prescriptions, preparation of intravenous admixture and filling, checking and dispensing of unit dose medications. Basic Requirement for Pharmacist: Education: A doctoral degree in Pharmacy that is recognized by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained Exemption: You are exempt from the basic requirement above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0660 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017 or before. Note: You will be required to provide appropriate documentation to the respective Human Resources Office to validate your status. Licensure: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a State, a territory of the United States, or the District of Columbia. Medical Requirement: Must be able to distinguish basic colors. Specialized Experience: One year of professional pharmacy experience which includes: Develop individualized medication regimens ensuring proper pharmaceutical doses are maintained, coordinate clinical Pharmacy services that includes complex problems of a highly specialized nature and communicate with patients to counsel them regarding their prescribed medication. If an employee brings an infant or toddler (up to 3 years of age) to an overseas location, and that infant or toddler, but for the child's age, is entitled to attend the DoDEA on a space-required basis in accordance with DoDEA Regulation 1342.13, then the Military Department responsible for EIS will provide the infant or toddler with the required EIS in accordance with the eligibility criteria consistent with DoDI 1342.12 and DoDM 1342.12. Employees (and family members) who require medical or dental care in the overseas location will be responsible for obtaining and paying for such care. Access for civilian employees and their families to military medical and dental treatment facilities is on a space-available and reimbursable basis only. Pay retention may be offered to selected applicants for positions at overseas locations. Pay retention will not be offered as an incentive for employees moving between overseas positions. Selectees may receive certain foreign area benefits such as: Living Quarters Allowance (LQA) or government quarters, home leave, etc. Selectees will have their eligibility for foreign area benefits determined at the time of hire in accordance with Department of State Standardized Regulation (DSSR) and DoDI 1400.25 volume 1250.
