Summary

This is an Open Title 5 Excepted Service Non-Uniformed Personnel position, open to the Public and Veterans following the MN National Guard Merit Placement plan.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • U.S citizenship required
  • Prior to appointment, applicant must have a current completed/clear drug test
  • Position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act of 1968. Individuals convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
  • Irregular/overtime hours may be required to support operational requirements
  • Position is designated Essential Personnel, may be subject to duty in preparation/response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration.
  • Position requires a SECRET security clearance, incumbent must maintain a Secret Clearance, some orgs may require TOP SECRET
  • Must obtain/maintain credentialing, privileging through the National Guard's Centralized Credentialing and Privileging Preparation Board. Possess a valid license in the US State, territory, or the District of Columbia to practice medicine, board eligible or board certified to include maintaining continuing medical education (CME) hours.
  • Privileged providers other than physicians and dentists; a designated physician will always be available for consultation and collaboration in person, telephonically, or other means which allows person-to-person exchange of information. Physician Assistants/Nurse Practitioners are health care providers who deliver primary or specialty medical care with physician supervision. Physician Assistants/Nurse Practitioners must collaborate with a state licensed physician in a duty status (T32 Military (to include no pay orders) or Technician /TS) when providing medical treatment (with authorized privileges).
  • Position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations. Position is covered by Health Affairs Policy 96006, 23 October 1996, which requires employees to obtain Hepatitis B Immunization unless exempted by a physician.
  • ***Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation*** Upon selection, individuals will undergo a background check to validate suitability for employment with the federal government as permitted by law, regulation, Presidential order or other authority. Suitability is dependent upon the requirements for security clearance, sensitivity level, and DOD IT network access. Items checked include, but are not limited to criminal history record information, employment history, education and fiscal accountability/responsibility.**

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. GENERAL AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:
At least one full year of work experience as a certified medical doctor, physician assistant equivalent to the next lower grade level and completion of an accredited physician assistant educational program OR at least one or more full years of professional nursing experience that is equivalent to the next lower grade level

Education

EDUCATION:
- To qualify for the 0603 series:
o Graduation from a Medical Practitioner or physician assistant educational program, accredited by the Accreditation Review Committee on Education for the Physician Assistant(external link) (ARC-PA) or its predecessors, at a college, university, or educational institution that is accredited by an accrediting body or organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education(external link) at the time the degree was obtained.
o Successful completion of the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants(external link) (NCCPA) examination; must maintain status as a certified physician assistant, including completion of all requirements for Continuing Medical Education(external link) (CME) and re-certification.
o A current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician Assistant from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
- To qualify for the 0610 Series:
o Do you possess the following: (Must provide documentation)
- A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education(external link), Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs(external link), Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education(external link), or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education(external link) at the time the degree was obtained.
- Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (external link) is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.
- Advanced Practice Nurse Positions: For Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) positions, applicants must possess a graduate or higher level degree in nursing from an accredited educational program in the area of expertise or specialty indicated by the position.
- Areas of specialties for positions include, but are not limited to, Acute Care, Anesthesia, Community Health, Family, Geriatric, Home Health, Midwifery, Neonatal, Oncology, Pediatric, Psychiatric, Allergy and Immunology, Women's Health, Cardiovascular, Dermatology, Occupational Health, Orthopedic, Respiratory, or other specialties identified for the position.
- Licensure
- For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination(external link). In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
- Additional License Requirements for Advanced Practice Nurse Positions: Applicants for Advanced Practice Nurse positions must be licensed or registered by a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States in the clinical specialty required by the position.
