Summary About the Position: This position is located at the 42nd Medical Group, Maxwell Air Force Base This is a Direct Hire Solicitation Learn more about this agency Duties Receive and review prescriptions, using knowledge of general principles of pharmaceutical practices that include legal requirements, prescription restrictions, identification of controlled and non-controlled substances. Inventory and reorder medications and other pharmacy supplies. Plan and revise work schedules and assignments to assure an even flow and distribution of work, the expeditious handling of priorities, that schedules and deadlines are met and to meet changes in workload. Assign responsibilities to subordinates, reviews the work and provides guidance and assistance on technical and administrative matters. Prepare workload and production reports as necessary and other reports as required. Requirements Conditions of employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. A Personnel Security Investigation is required. Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption. This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing. A pre-placement medical examination is required. Annual physical examinations are required. Moderate to heavy lifting up to 40 pounds may be required. Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS. This position may require rotating shifts (i.e. work schedule that requires employees to continuously rotate from one shift to another at predetermined intervals). This position may require the incumbent to work weekends and/or holidays. One-year supervisory probationary period required. A one-year probationary period is required if the selectee has not previously met this requirement. Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing final pharmacy checks on selected medication orders, managing pharmacy inventories and supplies, and providing guidance or training to other pharmacy personnel. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: Successful completion of at least one full year of graduate-level education in Pharmacology or a related field of study. OR Combination of Experience and Education: If you have some, but not all, of the experience or education described above, you may still qualify by combining the amount of creditable experience and education that you possess. To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100% to qualify. Education FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university. This position requires a 1 year probationary period during which the agency evaluates your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest.
