Summary
Incumbent serves as the Program Support Assistant to support aspects of the Medical Resident program day-to-day operations within Medical Services and administration support to the Chief of Medical Service.

Duties
Duties may include but are not limited to:
Assist in planning, review, and report data/statistical results of program/project studies
Establish protocol and coordinate incoming data and organize and retrieve computerized data sets
Review documents, reports, and/or applications for omission and inconsistencies, and ensure data is complete and accurate
Enter and maintain pertinent information in an automated tracking system of program-specific data to track suspense's on items such as progress reports, funding accomplishments and compliance strategies
Maintain Specialty Service inventory and supplies
Complete special research projects to support the Resident program
Timekeeping
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

To be considered for this position, you must complete all required steps in the process. In addition to the application and questionnaire, this position requires an online assessment. The online assessment measures critical general competencies required to perform the job.

Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary and is usually accomplished while the employee is comfortably seated at a desk or table. Some physical demands such as standing, walking, bending, and lifting (up to 40 pounds) is required. Physical exertions including stretching, reaching, and pulling or pushing carts occurs when assisting with inventories or activities involving retrieving items from shelves and cabinets.

Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP)

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 05/14/2026.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-5 level in the federal service, that equipped me with the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to successfully perform the duties of this position and that is typically in and/or related to the position being filled. Specialized experience includes applying basic management principles and administrative procedures to support studies, data collection, and program evaluation activities; Ability to gather, track, and analyze data to identify trends, assist with workload measurement, and support assessments of program effectiveness and compliance; Preparing routine reports, summaries, and briefings, and communicating information clearly with staff and stakeholders; Working knowledge of healthcare operations, quality management processes, and regulatory requirements; Using computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office and data systems) to compile data, maintain records, and generate reports; and Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and support process improvement efforts within a team environment.

Receiving Service Credit for Earning Annual (Vacation) Leave: Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. VA may offer newly-appointed Federal employee's credit for their job-related non-federal experience or active duty uniformed military service. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave. Such credit must be requested and approved prior to the appointment date and is not guaranteed.
