Summary About the position: This position will be assigned to Moody AFB Outdoor Rec. Guaranteed 20 hours, but may work up to 40 hours per week. Performs and/or assists other recreation assistants or specialists in the planning, organizing, and coordination of recurring & nonreoccurring activities Learn more about this agency Duties Responsible for planning, directing, and overseeing all operations of the Outdoor Adventure program (Paintball, archery, & Mission Lake) facilities. Plans, organizes & coordinates the details of recurring & nonrecurring activities & special events, to include such activities as backpacking, rockclimbing, mountaineering, fishing, white water rafting, kayaking, caving, biking etc. Assist the supervisor by implementing higher level directives, fomulating procedures & programs to ensure high standards of recreation programs. Develops outdoor adventure programs designed to stimulate and sustain the interests of participants. Provides technical advice and assistance to participants regarding the various programs. Instructs and leads outdoor adventure trips, outdoor adventure shops, and clinics; trains volunteer staff as required. Resolves customer complaints, referring more technical complaints the to supervisor. Assists in developing marketing plans, NAF operating budgets, NAF Capital Expenditure budgets; provides input to supervisor and assists in analyzing financial results. Provides day-to-day oversight and work direction to assigned personnel. Identifies training needs and ensures training is received/completed. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifying Experience: Must have experience in and knowledge of a variety of outdoor adventure programs, facility rules, work procedures, equipment and materials to plan and carry out recurring and special recreational programs. Must have responsible administrative, professional, technical, or other work which has provided a general knowledge of outdoor recreation programs, principles, and practices. Must be able to follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Must be able to read, write and speak English. Must have the ability to frequently life and carry objects weighing up to 100 lbs with assistance. Frequently stand, stoop, bend, stretch, push and pull. Must be able to drive long distances with large groups of people over improved and unimproved roads. Must possess a valid driver's license. Must be able to work an irregular tour of duty to include days, nights, weekends and holidays. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical. must be able to satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI). THIS IS A DRUG TESTING DESIGNATED POSITION. THE INCUMBENT IS SUBJECT TO RANDOM TESTING FOR DRUG USE. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution. Additional information Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position. U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. Territory for three (3) or more consecutive years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation or a signed memorandum indicating the installation's decision on the 3-year residency requirement..
