Physician Assistant - Women Veterans Program Manager

Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Learn more about this agency Duties Major duties for the Physician Assistant - Women Veterans Program Manager (WVPM) include, but are not limited to: Demonstrates Proficiency in providing care for patients with complex care needs Guides and directs others who provide care Assesses patient's biopsychosocial needs Provides initial and ongoing assessment of patients Formulates a plan of care based on health care team assessments Provides leadership and identifies resources and critical factor Functions as a systems coordinator for the plan of care Monitors progress through the expected hospital course and intervenes as appropriate Coordinates care and discharge planning with the patient's primary care provider and team Recognizes complex situations that impact patient care and intervenes, using sound judgement, professional attitude and appropriate channels Evaluates patient status and response to care Demonstrates the ability to provide complex care remotely Appropriately orders diagnostic workups that demonstrate advanced clinical knowledge Conducts self in a professional manner Provides leadership to the interdisciplinary team in identification and addressing of ethical issues surrounding care management and professional practice Advocates fiscal responsibility in the management of patient care through effective utilization of resources. Provides input into own evaluation process in a timely manner Develops and implements an educational plan to enhance program development and professional performance Serves as a preceptor for PA students seeking learning experiences on a graduate level and evaluates outcomes Communicates effectively with patients, families/significant others and the health team Fosters good public relations when interpreting philosophy, policies/procedures, goals and objectives to staff, patients and the public Develops and leads interdisciplinary teams to improve organizational performance Collaborates with other in research activities VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package. Qualifications Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Physician Assistant Basic Requirements Master's degree in any discipline or a bachelor's degree in any discipline with one year of experience as a Physician Assistant ~AND~ Successfully passed the PA National Certifying Exam (PANCE) (or are you in the process to taking the exam) ~AND~ Currently hold, or will hold, a full and unrestricted license to practice in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or in the District of Columbia. Preferred Experience: Experience working with female population and supervision. Grade Determinations: In addition to the basic requirements stated above, the following qualification criteria must be met in determining the appropriate grade assignment of candidates. Physician Assistant-III (PA-III): Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities. PAs at this level are not required to meet each individual KSA listed below to qualify, but should be able to demonstrate, develop, or acquire those not met upon appointment for PA-III: i. Ability to clinically evaluate facility patient care delivery systems and validate or identify barriers to safe and effective patient care. ii. Skill to consistently demonstrate an elevated level of expertise and autonomy in diagnosing and treating seriously ill, multi-symptomatic patients through facility Focused Professional Practice Evaluation (FPPE) and Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE). iii. Ability to present clinical findings and recommendations to appropriate management officials. iv. Ability to clinically facilitate the delivery of patient care in collaboration with health professionals, health managers, and other health care personnel. v. Ability to implement and initiate clinical changes to established treatment protocols based upon new medical literature research findings to enhance patient delivery care for improved patient outcomes.vi. Ability to participate clinically in the development of the PA patient care audit processes involving in-depth review and analysis of medical records. Physical Requirements: Physical aspects associated with work required of this assignment are typical for the occupation, see Duties section for essential job duties of the position. May require standing, lifting, carrying, sitting, stooping, bending, puling, and pushing. May be required to wear personal protective equipment and undergo annual TB screening or testing as conditions of employment. Work Environment: Work is performed in an office/clinic setting with minimal risks that requires normal safety precautions; the area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. However, the work environment requires someone with the ability to handle several tasks at once in sometimes stressful situations.
