Chief, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine
Job Description
The new division chief will have the opportunity to build substantively. Resources and space will be available for the recruitment of new faculty and development of new programs.
The Division Chief will oversee all academic, research, residency training, clinical, and administrative aspects of the division involving full-time and voluntary faculty throughout Weill Cornell Medicine, including NewYork-Presbyterian-Lower Manhattan Hospital and our affiliated NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital and NewYork-Presbyterian Queens Hospital.
- Candidates must maintain an M.D or comparable foreign medical degree
- Certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine
- Academic rank of Associate Professor or Professor of Medicine typically includes 8-10 years of academic experience with first author scholarship related to the clinical and research fields and teaching.
- Competitive candidates should have strong leadership, mentoring, and interpersonal skills and a demonstrable commitment to our tripartite mission
- Successful post-training candidates will be a recognized physician-investigator with evidence of a strong national reputation in the clinical field of pulmonary and critical care medicine, including leadership and/or a key role in clinical activities, such as approaches to diagnosis; treatment or prevention of disease (such as asthma, pneumonia, pulmonary hypertension, COVID, interstitial lung disease and diabetes), [LB1] and proficiency in the interpretation of bronchoscopy and pulmonary function testing
- Appointment as an Attending Physician of NYPH will be contingent upon approval of the Weill Cornell Medicine academic appointment. Hospital attending and/or consultation privileges will be limited to Weill Cornell Medicine and NewYork-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital (unless otherwise specifically agreed to in writing by the dean of Weill Cornell Medical College)
- A valid New York State medical license, DEA license, board certification, and all applicable certification and/or credentialling specific to the medical specialty; must meet the qualifications to enroll and participate in all third-party payer insurance plan credentialing.
- Must remain compliant with all WCM and NYPH initiatives, including completion of WCM’s annual academic self- assessment and NYPH’s ongoing professional peer evaluation.
