Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service About the Position: This is a military technician position with the 99th Readiness Division, Equipment Concentration Site (ECS) 93 located in Fort Eustis, Virginia. Duties Repair small weapons by replacing obsolete parts and/or assemblies. Performs two level Preventative Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS) to include periodic gauging. List repairs on appropriate forms to indicate needed repairs. Use hand tools to make repairs and adjustments. Analyze unit deficiencies to determine required organizational training. Requirements Conditions of employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. This position requires membership in the US Army Reserves (USAR) This position requires a valid State Driver's license. This position is subject to the Lautenberg Amendment/ Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. This position requires a pre-employment physical. This position requires a Personnel Security Investigation. Qualifications POSITION IS ANNOUNCED AS A STANDING REGISTER (OPEN CONTINUOUS RECRUITMENT): First cutoff date to evaluate candidates will be 22 January 2024 at 11:59 PM. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Small Arms Repairer~ without more than normal supervision. To meet the screen out element, applicants should document experience or show the ability to do the following : initial inspection of small weapons to determine repairs needed; disassemble, repair and replace components on small arms; final inspection to ensure repairs were completed correctly; use of hand tools, precision gauges and measuring instruments; perform weapon operational tests; provide training; and prepare reports, work under close supervision of a work leader or journey- level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Effort Required: Frequently lifts subassemblies or small weapons weighing 15 to 20 pounds. Often carries large assemblies or weapons weighing up to 50 pounds. Work requires walking, bending, and long periods of standing. Working Conditions: Works in shop buildings that are well lighted, heated, and ventilated. Stands on concrete floors or other hard surfaces for long periods. Exposed to oil, grease, and solvents when cleaning and lubricating weapons. Subject to noise when test firing weapons. Education This job does not have an education qualification requirement. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
