Summary
About the Position: This position is located in the Diagnostic section, Department of Radiology, Clinical Support Services Directorate in Alexander T. Augusta Military Medical Center. Shift work is required Mon-Fri Day/Evening/Overnight. Work hours (1) 0700-1530; (2) 1500-2330
This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.
Duties
Performs a wide variety of complex ultrasound examinations of patients to aid in the diagnosis of disease or injury.
Follows operational procedures and patient management guidelines to ensure continued accreditation status and quality patient care.
Extend and/or modify the procedure to ensure full and accurate information.
Train radiologists, physician assistants, students, and other personnel in ultrasound principles, procedures, capabilities, techniques, and equipment.
Performs operator level maintenance and care of equipment.
Coordinates quality and operational elements of care with the Department Head of Radiology.

This position is subject to a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment.
This position has been designated Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
Required to wear Personnel Protective Equipment.
Required to lift up to 40 lbs. in the regular performance of duties. Pre-employment physical required and annually thereafter.
This position is required to work uncommon tours of duty hours such as, on-call, working either fixed or rotating shifts, evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a current certification in the specialization from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
Position is designated as Inclement Weather Essential. The incumbent must make every attempt to report for work on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.
Certified Diagnostic Radiology Technician (Ultrasound).
This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination.
This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination. A candidate selected to this position will be required to sign a statement consenting to annual seasonal influenza vaccination.
Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
Must be able to obtain and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) Training and Certifications from the American Heart Association and the American Red Cross within 6 months of hire.
Applicants must be able to fulfill Prime Source Verification (PSV) requirements and obtain and maintain for the duration of employment in this position.
Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-GS-07 grade level in the Federal service which includes 1) Skilled in the setting up, adjusting, operating, and maintaining diagnostic ultrasound and ancillary equipment; 2) knowledge of the concepts, practices, procedures, techniques, and equipment applied to medical ultrasound; 3) Assisting in performance of invasive procedures such as biopsies, aspirations, nephrostomes, amniocentesis, etc. and 4) Ability to read and explain sonograms
Education: Successful completion of a Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of by 60. Add the two percentages.

Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
