Orlando Health Womens Institute Medical Director opportunity for Floridas Mid-West and West Region
Job Description
Orlando Health Medical Group is seeking a Mid-West and West Region Medical Director to provide
strategic leadership and operational oversight for women’s health services. This position integrates
administrative direction at Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital with clinical responsibilities as an OB
hospitalist at Orlando Health Lakeland Highlands Hospital. The Medical Director is responsible for
ensuring the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care while advancing innovation and overseeing
performance improvement initiatives. Additionally, this role will require close collaboration with
leadership partners across Watson Clinic, Pediatrics, Neonatology, Maternal Fetal Medicine and
others to align departmental objectives with broader organizational strategies.
Key
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership: Formulate and execute strategies to enhance the quality,
safety, and efficiency of women’s health services.
Recruitment: Facilitate the growth and
development of MD and APP staffing for women’s service lines.
Program Oversight: Oversee daily
operations of women’s services provider teams, including staffing, scheduling, and resource
management.
Clinical Excellence: Deliver direct patient care as an OB hospitalist, maintaining a
partial clinical schedule in labor and delivery and related areas. Clinical duties will account for
0.5 FTE at Lakeland Highlands Hospital, with the remaining 0.5 FTE dedicated to administrative
functions at both Bayfront Hospital and Lakeland Highlands Hospital.
Quality Improvement: Lead
quality and safety initiatives, monitor clinical outcomes, and implement evidence-based
protocols.
Collaboration: Cultivate a collaborative culture among Women’s health providers,
interdisciplinary team members, and multidisciplinary partners.
Partnership with System Leadership:
Function as the primary liaison between Bayfront Hospital, Lakeland Highlands, Watson Clinic
leadership, and the Orlando Health Women’s Institute leadership team to maintain alignment of
departmental and organizational strategies, goals, and standards.
Education & Development: Mentor
and support the ongoing professional development of providers and staff, promote continuing
education, and oversee onboarding processes for new team members.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure
adherence to hospital and regulatory requirements, including Joint Commission standards and
state/federal regulations.
Patient Experience: Advocate for initiatives that elevate patient
satisfaction and engagement within women’s clinical programs.
Qualifications
Possession of an MD
or DO degree with board certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Minimum of 5 years of clinical
experience in OB hospitalist practice, MFM, or another OBGYN program preferred.
Demonstrated
leadership experience, with a proven record of managing teams and executing strategic initiatives
required.
Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and organizational abilities.
Strong commitment
to delivering high-quality patient care, prioritizing safety, and fostering continuous
improvement.
Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and executive
leadership.
Eligibility for medical licensure in the State of Florida.

About the Company:
As an integrated healthcare system, Orlando Health has joined forces with the nationally respected,
physician-led practice of Watson Clinic to bring exceptional healthcare to the communities of Polk
County and the surrounding region. The combined strengths of this collaboration will be showcased
with the summer 2026 opening of the Orlando Health Watson Clinic Lakeland Highlands Hospital.
Areas
throughout the new hospital will reflect the collaborative spirit between the two organizations.
Experts from both Orlando Health and Watson Clinic have been heavily involved in the overall
planning of the project, including design of the facility, selection of next-generation
technologies, and development of a comprehensive scope of specialized programs and services, with
key programs to include cardiology, neurology, gastroenterology, obstetrics, surgery and surgical
oncology.
This state-of-the-art facility will feature more than 300 inpatient beds, 69 emergency and
observation beds, 11 operating rooms, four cardiac and interventional suites, and 18 beds in an
intensive care unit that will grow to 36 at full build-out. The hospital will support a wide
offering of surgical and procedural services across multiple specialties. A robust cardiovascular
program will offer diagnostic cardiology services upon opening, with the addition of PCI care soon
after and further progressing to include structural heart disease and advanced electrophysiology
(EP) programs. With a strong neurology focus on stroke and spine care, the hospital is expected to
advance to a primary stroke center soon after opening with comprehensive stroke center to follow. A
full obstetrical unit also will be highlighted on opening day with eight labor and delivery rooms,
two designated C-section operating rooms and more than 25 postpartum rooms. A 12-bed neonatal
intensive care unit will debut shortly after the hospital opens.
