Learn more about this agency Duties Coordinates with DoW, Dept. of State, the Smithsonian, as well as with the constituent colleges and other University elements as required to direct policy relating to the Command. Responsible for execution of the collection development policy, budgeting, program planning, reference assistance and Interpretation, collection analysis and preservation and research programs. Presents lectures, tours, and hosts meetings relating to NDU-NIC. Plans special events which attract the participation of the library staff, the University community and professional colleagues. Formulates and submits to the NDU Library Director budget estimates for all activities of the Division, making provisions for anticipated changes in requirements for all program needs including materials, equipment, training, and the purchases. Pay for first time hires to the Federal Government will typically be set at step 1 salary range for their respective grade level. Obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI clearance. Qualifications Basic Requirement: All applicants must have one of the following, must provide transcripts to verify Basic Requirements have been met: 1. Completion of 1 full academic year of graduate study in library science in an accredited college or university, in addition to completion of all work required for a bachelor's degree; OR 2. A total of at least 5 years of a combination of college-level education, training, and experience. To qualify on this basis, the applicant must establish conclusively that the education, training, and experience provided a knowledge and understanding of the theories, principles, and techniques of professional librarianship; a knowledge of literature resources; and the knowledge and abilities essential for providing effective library and information services AND In addition to meeting the basic requirement, qualified applicants must possess specialized experience: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience is defined as: Experience with developing a visual design program to create professional visual products, exhibits, publications, Web/electronic media presentations, and print products. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education Education is not substitutable for specialized experience for this grade level.
