Summary
This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies through the Certain Competitive Service / Modified Direct Hire Authority. Conditions of Employment

- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

- Active duty military members MAY apply under this announcement. If selected, appointment eligibility requirements must be met prior to the effective date of appointment.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- You must be able to climb and work at heights above 150 feet
- You must be able to work in confined spaces
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States drivers license.
- You must obtain and maintain government operator permits for all assigned vehicles and equipment
- You will be required to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS locations
- You must be able to travel on military and commercial conveyance, including sailing aboard a wooden, sail-powered ship.
- You must maintain proper drees, etiquette, and language at all times
Qualifications
Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below.
This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is the ability to perform the duties of a WG-8 Ship Restorer as demonstrated by working under close supervision including performing work related to the maintenance, repair, fabrication, and/or installation of wooden components of ships and/or boats including components such as hull planking, structural members, ceiling and deck planks, masts, booms, spars, and/or yardarms; using knowledge of woods and characteristics; joining timber and/or wood; using fasteners for woods; using handheld power tools, and hand tools related to woodworking; using measuring instruments to determine dimensions for cutting and fitting or wood.
