Information Technology Internship

Fifth Third Bank's project-based 10-week Information Technology Internship Program gives college students the opportunity to participate in a hands-on program supporting the Cincinnati market. This is a paid professional development opportunity where you'll learn Fifth Third Bank's business practices, operations, and procedures, and build skills you need to assume a permanent role at one of the top financial services institutions. Housing assistance is available to eligible interns.

You will be responsible and accountable for risk, encouraged to openly exchange ideas and opinions, elevate concerns, and follow policies and procedures to safeguard the company. Doing the right thing for customers and colleagues is key; you'll ensure their actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience, achieving real results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.

This internship helps college students gain meaningful work experience and targeted educational opportunities to develop as future organizational leaders and get exposure to multiple business areas. Gain on-the-job skills and an understanding of the real-life work environment, while developing a professional network that includes some of the best talent in the industry.

What You'll Do

The Information Technology Internship applies technical skills and expertise to business and/or technical projects. As a program participant, you'll help us achieve our vision of being the bank people most value and trust, while building skills that will help you start a career. You'll participate in a variety of roles over your 10-week assignment, applying technical skills and expertise to work within an agile framework, deploying new technologies and analyzing data to improve business strategies.

You'll work on projects for Fifth Third Bank, receiving feedback and an evaluation based on accuracy, completeness, and through meeting applicable deadlines. You'll also have an opportunity to receive mentoring from industry professionals, have exposure to executive leadership and participate in social and networking activities. At the conclusion of the internship, you'll present your overall experience to the senior leadership team, including key concepts learned and an overview of each project.

Job Duties

• Play a key role as an individual contributor on projects or agile teams.
• Complete work assignments in conjunction with more senior staff members.
• Participate in other learning sessions within Information Technology and with other leadership programs to learn about the bank, leadership, strategies and community involvement.
• Work to increase knowledge of the industry and the applications created and/or processed by Fifth Third Bank through all available channels.
• Build a network within Information Technology and other supporting divisions.
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Knowledge and Skills

• Currently enrolled in a college or university pursuing an Information Technology or Computer Science degree
• A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
• Relevant Internship / Co-Op Program experience
• Demonstrated interest in new technologies
• Previous experience with computer programming or software development

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Basic Excel proficiency (data entry, formatting, charts, basic formulas, Vlookup)

• Strong process orientation and attention to detail
• Critical-thinking skills and ability to draw conclusions based on data
• Effective conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
• Campus involvement/ leadership experience
• Ability to complete both guided and self-directed learning activities

• Able to work in a team environment
