We are seeking an aspiring engineer to fill an Engineering Intern position. Our ideal applicant is a current student or a recent graduate of an electrical engineering, computer science or computer engineering program. While you do not need to have prior job experience, you must be self-motivated and have demonstrated a high level of academic achievement. You will learn the responsibilities of a professional engineer under the supervision of our more senior engineers.
The intern will gain experience building, configuring, and collecting data from specialized internetworking simulations in a test environment. The intern will also gain experience working with the RISCV architecture and using the RISCV GNU toolchain to build and analyze RISCV64 Linux binary files.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Set up and configure a VirtualBox virtual machine running a Linux distribution as the guest operating system
- Configure secure shell using Bash, OpenStack, Linux tools, system build tools, and other tool chains
- Create an internet working configuration with deployable VM instances
- Build open-source software in a Linux environment
- Analyze and interpret experimental data using fault injection/mutation testing
- Construct a simulation environment for multiple platform nodes using off-the-shelf and open-source software tools
- Run and modify experimental use cases using nodes to emulate embedded devices connected to a local area or system network
- Analyze and interpret experimental data
Skills & Qualifications
- Must be working toward a technical degree in STEM
- Emphasis on students with coursework in the areas of: Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Computer Engineering
- Must work well in both a team environment and independently
- Must have excellent computer skills
- Must be a full-time student at an accredited U.S. college or university
- Must have demonstrated a high level of academic achievement
- Self-motivated; takes ownership of projects and issues, and following issues through to resolution
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail
- Holds or is eligible for DoD clearance
Nice to Have
- Strong understanding of Linux
- Strong understanding of open-source software build systems
- Familiar with assembly language, especially the RISCV instruction set architecture
- Familiar with virtualization software such as VirtualBox
- Previous internship experience
