Zoom Security Engineering Interns build high quality production ready software for our client infrastructure team. We'll be building out the client components of the Zoom E2EE system as described in our white paper ( https://github.com/zoom/zoom-e2e-whitepaper ). In particular, we'll be developing cryptographic identity distributed across multiple devices, and clients that create, consume and process
append-only cryptographic data structures like "sigchains" and transparency trees.

This paid internship is for a duration of 12 weeks during the summer of 2023. The program offers cutting edge projects, as well as a mix of additional types of learning in areas of leadership and business acumen-- and is packed full of fun!
What you will do:

• Write and push high quality code efficiently for the Zoom desktop and mobile applications
• Implement networked cryptographic protocols
• Integrate cryptographic libraries into a large, multiplatform codebase
• Build unit and integration testing; automation of these tests
• Read and understand technical cryptographic specifications
• Build complex solutions in a fast-paced and collaborative environment
• Collaborate with engineers and architects across different teams to design and develop solutions that meet market needs with respect to functionality, performance and reliability
• Design, develop, and implement features to improve our systems.
• Participate in design and code reviews
• Fulfill our mission to Deliver Happiness through clean and elegant code

Basic Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelors degree or higher in Computer Science with an expectation that degree will be obtained between Dec. 2023 and July 2024
• Available to complete the full 12-week in person internship during Summer 2023, with a time commitment of approximately 40 hours per week.
• Experience programming in at least one of the following: C++, Java, GoLang, Rust

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with cryptography and security engineering
• Experience with concurrency and design patterns
• Experience with Unix/Linux or Windows environments, distributed systems, network programming and/or developing large software systems
• Excellent foundation in computer science, with competencies in data structures, algorithms and software design optimized for maximum performance, and large scale
• Strong communication skills and a desire for continuous learning
• An authentic interest in supporting and advancing Zoom's mission, values, and culture
