2023 Summer Analyst Program

Bellwether Asset Management, Inc. (“BWAM”) is a privately held firm located in Los Angeles, CA, specializing in the management, analysis and reporting of over $21 billion of AUM across a wide range of real-estate related assets and corporate platforms in the United States, Europe and Asia.

About the Job:

BWAM’s 10-week Summer Analyst Program provides undergraduate students the opportunity to gain real-life work experience while learning what a career at our firm can offer. Throughout the course of this program, Summer Analysts will learn how to develop complex financial models, analyze monthly reporting and participate in operations and leasing meetings. The summer analyst program will expose students to a diverse array of Real Estate fields such as Equity and Debt Asset Management, Underwriting, Investment Research, Construction Management, Capital Markets and Investor Relations.

Alongside asset management experience, the program also offers acquisition work via a capstone project. The project consists of underwriting a live deal and pitching it to the BWAM team during an investment committee meeting.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the proactive monitoring and management of a portfolio of debt and equity investments across all property types (office, industrial, hotel, retail, & residential)
• Review and analyze business plans, leasing activity, and monthly property operating performance
• Learn best practices for financial modeling and develop bespoke analyses for live deals
• Organize investment level data on a monthly & quarterly reporting basis
• Complete an internship-long capstone project and present findings to the firm’s leadership team
• Perform additional ad-hoc analysis as needed
• Partner with Bellwether Analysts and Associates to learn Real Estate Finance concepts

Qualifications:

• Proficient with Microsoft Excel
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
• Strong attention to detail with superior organizational skills
• Interest in real estate, finance, and/or client services
• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with an anticipated graduation date of Spring 2024

• Asset-level analytics: Providing quantitative and qualitative investment- and portfolio-level performance reports by consolidating and analyzing monthly operating statements produced by operating partners to track and monitor performance against initial underwriting;
• Active Asset Management Support: The team works closely with Acquisition Teams to help monitor all strategic and joint-venture operating partners on a day-to-day basis. Responsibilities include weekly leasing calls, monthly operational reviews, annual budget and business plan reviews and financial analysis;
• Investment and Fund-level Reforecasting: BWAM is responsible for creating proprietary investment-level valuation models for the portfolio to enhance our ability to reforecast investment-and fund-level performance on a routine basis.
