Job Description

A Career with Point72’s Valuation team

The Point72 Valuation team manages the valuation of various investments ranging from the exchange traded products to derivatives traded in OTC markets, including equities, listed futures/options, bonds, fixed income OTC derivatives (interest rate swaps/swaptions, FX spot/forwards/options), credit derivatives, commodity products, venture capital, and private equities. The Valuation team provides valuations and P&L for portfolio managers, the Risk team, and senior management.


About the Valuation Internship 

The Valuation internship at Point72 provides individuals interested in pursuing a career in Valuation at an investment firm with a valuable, hands-on experience. During the 10-week program based in New York office, you will:

  • Join a team of highly skillful professionals who have actively managed valuation of various investment types such as Macro products (Rates, Credit, FX, Equities) priced by internal valuation models or external sources
  • Gain exposure to the fast paced and competitive hedge fund world in which Point72 operates and real-life examples of how derivatives are traded and priced
  • Learn industry leading talent and business practices
  • Receive intensive mentoring by valuation professionals dedicated to investing in your success
  • Participate in training sessions focused on developing Excel, writing, and presentation skills
  • Work and network with groups across the Firm, such as Trading, Risk, Finance, Operations, Compliance, and Technology

 

Summer Internship Program at Point72

In addition to the learning and development you’ll receive in your day-to-day role with your team, as a part of our summer internship program you will:

  • Work alongside your fellow interns and be mentored by experienced professionals
  • Meet your peers through designated intern programming, volunteer opportunities, and social events
  • Attend sessions with senior leaders discussing their expertise and career paths
  • Get hands-on access to best-in-class tools and resources
  • Gain exposure to groups and functions with unique responsibilities and perspectives on our industry
  • Develop technical, writing, and presentation skills

 

What’s required

  • Pursuing a master’s degree in Financial Engineering or similar major
  • Demonstrated academic success as reflected in a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3/4.0
  • Knowledge of financial products, pricing models, and greeks, specifically in derivatives space
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to fast-paced and changing work environment
  • Strong analytical, writing, verbal communication, and technical skills 
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with all levels of the team 
  • Conduct yourself with professionalism and integrity at all times
  • Commitment to the highest ethical standards

The base salary range is $32.00 per hour and this role is eligible for overtime. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
