Job Description
Walmart Advanced Systems & Robotics is a rapidly expanding initiative with the objective of revolutionizing the retail landscape through robotics. Our development and implementation of the cutting-edge Alphabot® technology are currently underway, with deployment in stores across North America.
We are seeking a industrial control engineer (PLC – Programmable Logic Controller) Co-Op student to join our team. They will work closely with our senior controls engineering team to help design, implement, and maintain our infrastructure and systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in computer science, experience with control systems, embedded programming, ladder logic, functional block diagrams and systems, and a passion for problem-solving. This Co-Op will run from July 2024 to December 2024.
WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON:
- Assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of our safety embedded control / PLC system.
- Help develop and implement test plans and strategies.
- Assist with test automation and scripting tasks.
- Develop new control features that integrate into a large multi-computer control system.
- Participate in incident response and troubleshooting.
- Help improve our monitoring and alerting systems.
- Document processes and procedures.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
- Currently enrolled in a electrical engineering, computer science or related degree program.
- Strong background in embedded control systems.
- Experience with PLC – such as Siemens or Rockwell Automation
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- A passion for technology and a desire to learn and grow.
