Software Engineering builds the brains of Waymo's fully autonomous driving technology. Our software allows the Waymo Driver to perceive the world around it, make the right decision for every situation, and deliver people safely to their destinations. We think deeply and solve complex technical challenges in areas like robotics, perception, decision-making and deep learning, while collaborating with hardware and systems engineers. This internship will be based on-site at our headquarters in Mountain View, CA.

You will:

• Build infrastructures for custom kernels integrations for Transformer-based models.
• Evaluate the quality and performance of different techniques of quantization and custom kernels.
• Stage the optimizations to many end-product models.

You have:

• Progressing towards MS or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
• Software development experience with Python.
• Knowledge of Transformers basics and profiling Transformers.
• Experience with profiling models / binaries.

We prefer:

• Experience with model quantizations.
• Experience with large model inference / training.
• Experience with Pytorch or Jax.
