Summary This position is located at USAG Bavaria - MWR, Army Lodging, Hohenfels, Germany. Incentives and Bonuses Incentives will not be paid. Duties Performs work in support of the in-house laundry operation. Operates commercial laundry machines to wash bulk laundry items. Receives items from laundry workers: loads and unloads items into and out of washing machines and dryers. Ensures proper sort, loading capacity, cleaning solvents and correct settings for operation of machinery. Folds, stacks, bundles, and tags finished items. Operates a press for ironing. Maintains stock and the cleanliness of laundry area. Requirements Conditions of employment Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required. Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position. A one-year probationary period may be required. Must be able to work rotating shift, to include weekends and holidays. Works inside in areas that are noisy, hot and humid. Exposed to the possibility of bruises from moving carts or falls on wet floors in the washing area. Must meet physical requirement of position such as walking on hard surfaces with some bending, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling of items or carts up to and occasionally over 50 pounds. Qualifications Resumes must be two pages (or less). Resumes should clearly demonstrate the applicant's relevant experience, skills, knowledge and abilities as they pertain to this position. A qualified candidate must possess the following: - Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision. - Ability to maintain tools and equipment. - Ability to keep areas neat and clean and in order. Skill and Knowledge: - Must have knowledge of loading capacities of tumblers, extractors, or conditioners; the performance capabilities of laundry equipment; of the types and purposes of cleaning solvents. - A basic knowledge of the different types of linen and how they should be laundered is also required. - Incumbent must be able to perform troubleshooting and minor repair and maintenance of equipment. In addition to the above qualifications, candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered "Highly Preferred" or "Best Qualified": - Two (2) years Army Lodging experience - Ability to obtain and maintain a USAREUR Driver's license - Successfully completed the course "Housekeeping: Laundry Operations" through American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI) *must be uploaded with application Applicant meeting the Best Qualifying Criteria/Highly Preferred will be referred to the hiring manager. Allowances and Differentials This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week - whichever gives the employee more benefit. Regular full-time, regular part-time, and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays. Employees may also be eligible to receive extra pay if the majority of their scheduled hours falls after 3:00 PM.
