Summary The United States Attorney's Office (USAO) for the Southern District of Georgia is seeking applications from experienced attorneys or those who will be an active member of a bar association prior to entry on duty to fill Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSA) vacancies within the Criminal Division in the Savannah, Georgia branch office. This is an open announcement that will remain open until filled or 4/17/2026. Qualified applicants will be referred to selecting officials at 1-week intervals. Learn more about this agency Duties AUSAs in the Criminal Division are responsible for the prosecution of a variety of crimes under federal law including but not limited to violent crime, fraud, public corruption, illegal immigration, possession of child pornography, human trafficking, drug violations, firearms violations, terrorism, and asset forfeiture. The qualified applicant will be expected to (a) lead federal law enforcement agents in structuring and executing criminal investigative strategies and plans; (b) actively participate in grand jury proceedings, including the introduction of evidence and presentation of witnesses; and (c) litigate cases of moderate to high complexity, from charging to sentencing, with limited supervision. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress. In addition, continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation. Residency Requirements: Assistant United States Attorneys generally must reside in the district to which he or she is appointed or within 25 miles thereof. Additional information Salary Information: Assistant United States Attorney's pay is administratively determined based, in part, on the number of years of professional attorney experience. The range of basic pay is $65,563 to $171,487 not including locality pay.
