Summary This position is located at MWR Bowl Arena Lanes. Incentives and Bonuses Incentives will not be paid. Learn more about this agency Duties Prepares and cooks a variety of foods and desserts according to menu requirements with or without the assistance of another cook/supervisor; Takes food from prep area to refrigerators or serving area; Monitor inventory and rotating food inventories. Follows recipes to prepare food items and adjusts recipes for larger or smaller quantities and portions out food for family style and plate service; Prepares vegetables and cold food dishes; Make a variety of salads, salad dressings, sandwiches. Roasts a variety of meats such as beef, pork, veal, lamb, fish, and poultry; Grills and deep fries foods; Broils and steams foods; Slices meat by hand and by mechanical means, to specific requirements. Follows health and safety precautions to ensure safe preparation and storage of food items; Operates kitchen equipment designed to mix and cook food items; Uses, cleans and maintains power kitchen equipment. Monitors and maintains appropriate temperature of all food items throughout preparation and service; Keeps working area and cooking utensils cleaned and ready for use in accordance with standard sanitation requirements; Maintains personal hygiene. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of employment Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required. Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position. A one-year probationary period may be required. Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check. Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a medical examination. Incumbent may be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally-controlled facilities. Satisfactory completion of a minimum of 4 hours initial food sanitation and safety training is required within 30 days of employment and a minimum of 4 hours refresher training annually. Physical Effort: Standing, walking, stooping, reaching, pushing pulling and bending. Must be able to lift or move objects up to 40lbs unassisted, and occasionally lift or move objects weighing over 40lbs. with assistance. Working Conditions: Kitchen areas that are well lit, hot, noisy. Exposed to steam, fumes, odors from cooking and extreme temperature changes when entering walk-in refrigerators or freezing units. Subject to burns, cuts, and slipping on wet floors. This is a 7-day operation, work schedule will vary based on the needs of the activity. Nights, weekends and holidays are required. A qualified candidate must possess the following: 1. A minimum of 6 months of work experience directly related to the duties described above, that included skill in working with professional kitchen appliances and equipment. 2. Be able to communicate (verbal and written) in English. Education This job does not have an education qualification requirement. Allowances and Differentials This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week -- whichever gives the employee more benefit. Regular full-time, regular part-time, and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays. Employees may also be eligible to receive extra pay if the majority of their scheduled hours falls after 3:00 PM. Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
