Job Description
Responsible for working with Hilcorp's functional teams, Asset Teams, and the Information Technology (IT) Department to understand technology needs and challenges, deliver projects that align with the technology that provides best practices, and leverage IT to support the overall business strategy. This person supports all basic needs for Hilcorp's business intelligence and reporting environments, ensuring the data systems operate effectively while meeting the business needs.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Improve existing systems, including what areas have gaps that need to be filled, and start working with the team and stakeholders to scope and prioritize solutions.
- Design, implement, and build reporting products and pipelines that deliver data with measurable quality under the service level agreement.
- Partner with system analysts and engineering teams to build foundational technology that is trusted, well-understood, and aligned with business strategy.
- Mentor team members, define data strategies, and leverage the best technologies in data's lifecycle.
- Translate business requirements into data solutions easily understood and used by different subject areas.
- Establish engineering processes to ensure service quality, delivery of new capabilities, and continuously improve metrics.
- Run scalable, reliable, maintainable services with a small support staff
- Work closely with other IT groups to influence how optimization and modeling can improve our decisions.
- Lead Design Change Control Board, managing expectations, requiring documentation, and adherence to policy
- Adheres to the company's values - integrity, ownership, urgency, alignment, and innovation.
- Supports company vision and mission.
- Adheres to established work schedule attendance standards and is punctual to work and meetings.
Other Job Responsibilities:
- Builds customer confidence, is committed to increasing customer satisfaction, sets achievable customer expectations, and assumes responsibility for solving customer problems.
- Ensures commitments to business stakeholders are met, solicits opinions and ideas from Finance, Accounting, and Land departments, and responds to inquiries.
Qualifications:
- Fifteen (15) years minimum information systems experience, preferably in the oil and gas industry, with a particular emphasis on financial reporting and cloud-native computing data as a service development.
- Interpersonal skills to allow effective communication with individuals and teams.
- Strong ability to diagnose and solve problems while maintaining patience, professionalism, and courtesy.
- Understanding the technology related to the design and maintenance of data as a service platform.
- Ability to establish priorities, meet deadlines, and concentrate on detailed information in a fast-paced, demanding work environment.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other departments, officials, and the public.
- Expert understanding of traditional and modern data architectures and the tradeoffs
- Ability to complete multiple, diverse tasks of differing priorities with a high degree of accuracy.
- Proficiency in the use and application of the following:
- Required: AWS, Kubernetes/Containerization, Microsoft SQL Server, SAP, SQL, Micro-Services, Integration Technology
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year accredited university or college in Computer Science or relevant experience
- Preferred Master's degree in Computer Science
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:
- Certification in LEAN and/or Six Sigma, preferred but not required.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, preferred but not required.
