Summary
This position is part of the Department of War (DoW), Missile Defense Agency (MDA). The incumbent will be responsible for planning, administering, evaluating, and coordinating environmental compliance activities for a broad range of Missile Defense Agency (MDA) operations and activities within the MDA, Facilities Engineering Environmental Management Directorate.

Duties
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Acq Demo Business and Technical Management to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
This position is being filled under AcqDemo Direct Hiring Authority (DHA) for non-acquisition positions involving 51% or more of time in direct support of acquisition positions within Business and Technical Management Professional Career path.
As a Environmental Protection Specialist at the NH-0028-3 broadband level, some of your typical work assignments may include:
Planning, administering, evaluating, and coordinating environmental compliance activities for a broad range of Missile Defense Agency (MDA) operations and activities within the MDA, Facilities Engineering Environmental Management Directorate.
Applying the principles of natural resource programs as they apply to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and other environmental laws and regulations, interpreting and applying NEPA and other environmental policies, and guidance for MDA program offices in the preparation of environmental impact statements, environmental assessments, categorical exclusions, and determination of NEPA adequacy.
Researching and developing Environmental Management policies as they relate to MDA Programmatic Environmental Management requirements, and environmental management as it relates to weapons system deployments world-wide.
Planning, scheduling, and assisting in the development of environmental policies and procedures, and compliance with U.S. and DoD environmental regulations.
Supporting the Director of the Environmental Management Directorate by providing advice and ensuring that MDA integrates environmental management into daily decision making and long-term planning throughout the life cycle of the agency's acquisition mission, activities, and functions.

Qualifications
You may qualify at the NH-03 Broadband Level, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the NH-02/GS-11 grade level in the Federal service as listed below and must meet 2 of the 4 specialized experience listed below to be qualified:
Applying National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) procedures, principles, and methods to analyze environmental impacts through Categorical Exclusions (CATEX), Environmental Assessments (EAs), and Environmental Impact Statements (EIS).
Implementing Environmental Management System standards and environmental compliance requirements to an organization or project to minimize lifecycle environmental impacts.
Ensuring compliance of Department of Defense (DOD) or Department of War (DOW) activities and programs with environmental laws and regulations.
Responding to technical questions and articulating environmental requirements necessary to manage and support assigned programs.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
