Summary

This position will be assigned to the Fitness Center at JBSA-Lackland AFB, TX.

This is a regular part-time category position with guaranteed 20 hours per week, may work up to 40hrs/week. Employees appointed to regular category positions are eligible for benefits.

Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 75 pounds.

  • This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
  • This position requires the incumbent to be a U.S. Citizen or a Legal U.S. Resident for a minimum of 3 years and to reside in/around the area as noted in the Job Opportunity Announcement.
  • This position requires the incumbent to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical.
  • The incumbent must possess a valid driver's license.
  • The incumbent is subject to random drug testing.
  • The incumbent may be required to work an uncommon tour of duty.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience:
Must have experience which has provided knowledge of the operation and maintenance of indoor/outdoor fitness and recreation equipment. Must have experience which provides a working familiarity with the routines and procedures followed in group activities or programs; and practical knowledge and/or experience of recreational activities, equipment, rules and procedures which involves recreational work in the area of specialty of this position is desired. Familiarity with operation of minor turf maintenance equipment (lawn tractors, mowers, equipment carts, etc.) is desired.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's):
1. Must be able to communicate both orally and in writing.
2. Ability to lead, train, and schedule subordinates.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.

  • U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. Territory for three (3) or more consecutive years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation.
