Job description
Summary
This position is located at the Peak but may fill other vacancies in the Business Recreation Division.
This position is for Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation (FMWR) at Fort Drum, New York. FMWR includes Child and Youth Services, Business Recreation, and Support Services, which enable Soldier readiness, support the resilience and well-being of Soldiers and Families.

Duties
Prepares a limited variety of short order fast food items such as hamburgers, hot dogs, fish and chicken sandwiches, pizzas, French fries, etc.
Assures that tables/work surfaces are promptly cleared and cleaned and cleans other work areas to include walls, floors, equipment, and storage areas.
Coordinates food and beverage needs for special events, not limited to preparing and serving food and cleaning work areas.
Serves as cashier in the snack bar, receiving payment by cash or charge. Completes cash report at the end of assigned shift. Orders fast food items, condiments, and other necessary supplies.

A one-year probationary period may be required.
Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
Light to heavy physical effort is required.
Frequently lifts and moves objects weighing up to 40 pounds, occasionally lifting and carrying up to 45 pounds.
Incumbent must have the mental, physical, oral, and audio ability to perform all of the duties of this job in both a satisfactory and safe manner.
There are requirements to walk, stoop, bend, pull, push, and reach, frequently and to stand for long periods of time.
May be required to work on ladders and use power cleaning equipment.
May be exposed to hot liquids, sharp cutting blades, and hot working surfaces and extreme temperature changes when entering walk in refrigerators or freezing units.
There is a danger of falling from a ladder, of slipping on a floor where food or beverages have been spilled.
May work indoors in normal indoor kitchen and dining room conditions and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions running a food cart.
Satisfactory completion of a minimum of 4 hours initial food sanitation and safety training is required within 30 days of employment and a minimum of 4 hours refresher training annually.
Must meet state/local age requirements at the time of appointment if serving alcoholic beverages.
Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with Army Regulation 215-3.
This position requires a favorably adjudicated T1/NACI background investigation.
An employer referred pre-employment physical examination is required.
Management reserves the right to reassign employees to other facilities.
Work schedule will be irregular. The incumbent will be required to work, nights, weekends, holidays, and/or unique events.
Qualifications

A qualified candidate must possess the following:
meet state/local age (18) requirements for the serving of alcoholic beverages by 11/6/2025 or later, AND
ability to work without more than normal supervision, AND
ability to keep your work area clean, neat and in order, AND
basic application of food preparation and handling techniques, AND
ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions, AND
be familiar with basic sanitization principles, AND
ability to use and maintain kitchen tools and equipment.

Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are NOT authorized based on a determination that a PCS move is NOT in the Government's interest.
Allowances and Differentials
This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week -- whichever gives the employee more benefit. Regular full-time, regular part-time, and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays. Employees may also be eligible to receive extra pay if the majority of their scheduled hours falls after 3:00 PM.
