Duties
NONAPPROPRIATED FUND POSITION DESCRIPTIONJOB TITLE: SUMMER HIRE POSITION JOB SERIES: 0303 PAY LEVEL: NF11. Works under close continuous supervision of a manager, a leader or a fully qualified and experienced employee and receives assignments with detailed instructions. Alerts the manager or employees for help when problems arise. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illnesses, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the manager.2. Adheres to safety regulations and standards.3. Uses required safety equipment and observes safe work procedures.4. Learns the operation and function of the facility assigned, work procedure and basic rules necessary to do the work.Teen Summer Hire jobs consist of, but not limited to, those outlined below. May perform one or a combination of work. 1. General Clerical Assistant/File Clerk WorkPerforms clerical support duties at various MCCS offices/ facilities.Files documents and records, types material, sorts and routes incoming mail, prepares reports, requisitions and organizes office supplies, etc.Operates various common office equipment including copy machine, fax, shredder, etc.Receives telephone calls. In assisting customers, communicates positively in a friendly manner.2. Front-line Customer Service WorkOperates a cash register and other point of sales system.Assists customers with general store/facility information, services/programs, operation hour, etc.Organizes and arranges merchandise, display and appearance of assigned area.Tags items, stocks and returns light items to the shelves.Receives telephone calls. In assisting customers, communicates positively in a friendly manner.3. Maintenance Assistant WorkAssists in minor maintenance, routine inspections and cleaning of vehicles and equipment.Performs general housekeeping jobs such as vacuuming, cleaning and dusting fixtures.May use standard hand tools to complete work, but not including the use of power-driven mowers, cutters, trimmers, edgers, or similar equipment.Physical Requirements: Works inside and outside that may be noisy, hot and humid. Is exposed to the possibility of cuts and bruises. 4. Food and Hospitality WorkAssists in a variety of areas in food and hospitality operations such as food service worker to help prepare food, clean and prepare vegetables and fruits, busser to clear and set up tables, etc. Assists in the preparation of catering events and functions.Physical Requirements: Required to perform prolonged standing, walking, reaching, and lifting. 5. Library Aide WorkAssists customers with general library information, services/programs, operation hour, etc. and helps find library materials.Organizes, arranges and shelves returned and new books, material, magazine, and newspapers.Conducts inventory and prepares library materials for new cataloging system.Assists library staff in library programs such as Summer Reading Program, story-time, special displays and work with a large population of children, teens and adults.6. SCUBA Operation Assistant WorkPerforms a variety of work to support SCUBA Retail and Rental operations.Issues and maintains water recreation rental equipment such as snorkeling/SCUBA equipment, kayak, etc. to customers.Preferably, SCUBA certified.7. Automotive/Vehicle Care Attendant Work Cleans, washes, and polishes cars by hand.Following job is prohibited: work involving the use of pits, racks or lifting apparatus or involving the inflation of any tire mounted on a rim equipped with a removable retaining ring. Physical Requirements: Works inside and outside that may be noisy, hot and humid. Is exposed to the possibility of cuts and bruises. Required to perform prolonged standing, walking, reaching, and lifting.8. Bowling Operation Assistant WorkPerforms a variety of work to support Bowling Retail and customer service operations.Operates the Qubica Automatic Bowling System for lane assignments, selection of bowling type and recording of bowling fees.Issues bowling rental shoes.9. Aquatics Rec Attendant/ID Checker WorkChecks ID.Assists set-up and clean-up for swim tests.Assists patrons sign up for swim lessons.10. Outdoor Recreation Attendant WorkIssues athletic supplies and equipment.Advises customers on the practical and safe use of equipment.Performs limited demonstrations regarding the use of equipment.Receives and stores athletics supplies and equipment for patrons.Checks supplies and equipment for serviceability prior to and after each use, as appropriate.11. Fitness Center Assistant WorkTakes applications from customers to register for various sports activities.Periodically checks tools, gymnasium, courts, and/or indoor and outdoor recreation areas.Assists in inventory and checks supplies and equipment for serviceability prior to and after each use, as appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications (required for all positions)Must be at least 14 years of age and no older than 22 years of age.Must be a non-spouse SOFA dependent.Basic literacy skills to include basic math, reading and writing.The ability to follow directions and the willingness to learn new skills.The ability to work well with others in a team environment.Enjoys working with people and serving the military community.Courses (Courses are offered during the orientation)Cash handing (if required for the position)Food handling (if required for the position)This activity is a Drug-free workplace.
