Summary About the Position: This position is at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center located on Fort Hood, Texas. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation Learn more about this agency Duties Distribute and balance the workload amongst Medical Support Assistants (MSAs), taking into consideration priorities and requirements imposed by higher level supervisors, within the organization. Train new staff personnel on Patient Appointment System procedures and assistant duties, front desk duties, reviewing completed work and/or spot-checking work in progress and any updates to current practices. Oversee the interviewing of the patients in contact with the Enterprise Appointment System, front desk operation, and the scheduling of their appointments to specialty clinics. Coordinate Care across Defense Health Agency (DHA) ensuring MSAs have visibility to Virtual Health (VH) appointments at other facilities and are knowledgeable on proper registration and scheduling of these appointment. Resolve simple informal complaints and report to supervisor on performance, progress and training of employees, personnel and management programs and objectives with employees. Provide education to staff, patients, and post units on the use of the Patient Portal through setup events located in various clinics, pharmacies, post newcomers’ orientation, family readiness group meetings, Retiree health fair, and the Baby Expo. Requirements Conditions of employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. A Personnel Security Investigation is required. Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption. Tuberculosis (TB) Testing is required. Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing administrative or clerical support for healthcare staff; receiving patients and visitors (in person or telephonically); verifying patient eligibility for medical services; and utilizing automated systems for entering or updating data in a medical treatment facility. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Education This job does not have an education qualification requirement. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. This position requires a 1 year probationary periodduring which the agency evaluates your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest.
