Summary About the Position: Santa Rita is located on the southwest coast of the beautiful island country of Guam. With hills overlooking the Apra Harbor, it's considered one of the best natural ports in the Pacific Ocean, Santa Rita is the newest and smallest village in Guam. The Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) is transitioning to the Department of War Education Activity (DoWEA). Learn more about this agency Duties This lead position sets the pace for Monitors who perform simple and repetitive lunchroom, recess, and bus monitoring duties in the DoDEA school. Identifies and reports known or suspected problems, issues, or concerns to the appropriate staff, faculty member, or other official (e.g., military police) in accordance with established policies and procedures. Develops and maintains shift schedules, assigns work, and instructs employees in performance of their tasks. Gives simple on-the job training in accordance with applicable local guidance. Deals with student misbehavior and discipline issues. Assembles students at designated points and monitors movement and behavior as they pass through corridors on their way to cafeteria, recess, monitor dismissal as students leave class or go to school buses or parent's cars. Enforces safety rules and maintains order and safety to prevent unsafe/dangerous practices such as altercations between students. Assists students to use the restroom and instructs in basic personal hygiene practices. Requirements Conditions of employment Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Requirement. Proof of U.S. Citizenship required. Direct deposit of pay is required. Appointment subject to a suitability/fitness determination, as determined by a background investigation. This position requires a Tier 1 (T1) investigation with Childcare Checks since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age. Qualifications Who May Apply: U.S. Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. General Experience: 6 months of general experience. General experience is progressively responsible work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills need to perform the duties of the position being filled, such as working with safety rules and maintaining order and safety to prevent unsafe/dangerous practices in a school setting. OR Education: 1 year above High school graduation. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 6. Then divide your total credit hours of education by the total number of credit hours required for graduation as set by your high school. Add the two percentages. Education FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
