Summary
About the Position: This position is with the Defense Health Agency, Army Medical Center Madigan, with the Department of Medicine, located at Tacoma, Washington.

Duties
Implement patient safety policies in accordance with regulations, Quality Management Programs and in conjunction with the Military Health System Patient Safety Program (MHSPSP).
Participate as a member of a Patient Safety Committee to provide information regarding patient safety alerts, updates and initiatives.
Implement the MEDCEN patient safety program, to promote a culture of safety.
Provide support to medical facility staff that ensures effective management of the facility's patient safety program.
Maintain program requirements for a facility's patient safety program.
Enforce facility policies and procedures related to patient safety.
Recommend patient safety initiatives to be considered during strategic planning.
Establish criteria for internal patient safety reviews.
Implement a process to receive and centrally manage all patient safety reports from medical facility staff, patients, or visitors.
Prepare facility response to recurring, non-recurring and special safety reports.

This position has been designated "Mission Essential".
Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 11.
This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
This position is required to work uncommon tours of duty hours such as, on-call, working either fixed or rotating shifts, evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: Specialized Experience: Specialized Experience equivalent to the GS-09 of Federal Service which includes the review and implementation of patient safety programs in a hospital or medical treatment facility.
OR
Education: PH.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Hospital Administration, Public Health Administration, Business or Public Administration with course work in Health Care Administration or LL.B. or J.D. if related.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
Education
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university. This position requires a 1 year probationary period during which the agency evaluates your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest. Continued employment requires written certification that it advances the public interest.
Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement.
