Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position supports a division that delivers engineering and science programs across Alaska, including infrastructure, military facilities, and environmental cleanup. The role also supports safety programs and operations such as construction and waterway maintenance. Learn more about this agency Duties s lead the engineering division by supporting planning, direction, and coordination of engineering, design, environmental, construction, and operations programs across Alaska and international projects. Advises senior leadership on technical programs and helps ensure work is completed on time, within policy, and meets quality expectations. Oversees how resources such as funding and staff are assigned and used to support engineering and construction work effectively. Builds and maintains working relationships with government leaders and partners to coordinate project requirements and resolve issues. Manages daily operations by guiding supervisors, supporting staff development, resolving personnel issues, and maintaining a productive work environment. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Basic Requirement: This position has a basic entry requirement. The entry requirement requires completion of education or a combination of education and experience sufficient to be comparable to that normally acquired through the completion of a 4-year course of study with a major in the professional or scientific field. Please refer to the Office of Personnel Management Individual Occupational Requirements for possible ways to meet the basic requirements. Basic Requirement for Engineers 801/810/830/850: General Engineering Series 0801 (opm.gov) Basic Requirement for Architecture 808: Architecture Series 0808 (opm.gov) In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: GS-14 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service which includes managing and directing staff, engaged in planning, design and construction, construction contract administration, in any or all of the following engineering programs: regulatory, Formally Used Defense Sites (FUDS), Base realignment and Closure (BRAC), emergency management and/or support for other programs (SFO); Civil Works, AND/OR Military Projects construction for Army and Air Force installations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13 or above). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Selective Placement Factor: This position requires a current registration as a Professional Architect and/or Engineer (PE). Time in Grade Requirement GS-14: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13). Education FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
