Locums Trauma Surgery Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner
Job Description
A facility in Portsmouth, NH is seeking an experienced Locums Trauma Surgery Physician Assistant or
Nurse Practitioner to provide on-site trauma coverage, assist in critical care rounds, and support
surgical teams as needed. This role includes both weekday and weekend shifts with a combination of
8-hour and 12-hour schedules. First-assist experience is preferred but not required. Schedule &
Coverage Monthly Requirements: Up to 8–9 days of on-site trauma coverage / backup coverageShift
Options:7:00 AM – 7:00 PM7:00 AM – 3:00 PMCoverage Days: Monday–Friday with weekend coverage as
neededSetting: Trauma APP coverage for inpatient rounding Responsibilities Provide trauma surgery
support and inpatient roundingAssist in first-assist duties when applicablePerform critical care
rounding on trauma patientsCollaborate with trauma surgeons, hospitalists, and the multidisciplinary
teamManage daily patient evaluations, documentation, orders, and care planningRespond to trauma
consults as needed Patient Volume Average Daily Census: ~10 patients Requirements NH State Licensed:
PA or APRNBoard Certified or Board EligibleATLS and ACLS certifications requiredExperience in
trauma, acute care surgery, or critical care strongly preferredAbility to work independently within
scope while collaborating with attending physiciansFamiliarity with trauma protocols and inpatient
hospital workflows Portsmouth is a coastal New England city known for its historic charm, waterfront
