Summary
About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Sam's Fitness Center, Naval Weapons Station, Goose Creek, SC.
Duties
Opens / Closes Fitness and Sports Center and related areas for business and use. Greets facility users and conducts facility tours and
equipment orientations. Follows established sanitization procedures to ensure facility and equipment are in a clean and ready state.
Assists in facility operations including the care and maintenance of equipment, supplies, and indoor/outdoor facilities. Properly stows,
organizes, inventories, and secures activity equipment and supplies in correct storage locations. Recommends new programming
activities, to include type of format and resources the activity would require. Special emphasis is on activities and programs for service
members and their families, and all eligible patrons of the Fitness and Sports Center. Could be asked to carry out the following:
recurring group fitness activities such as classes, command physical training, special events, outreach, competitive games and events,
and incentive programming. Compiles and analyzes information from a number of different sources, including past programs, facility
demographics, and current popular programs in other communities. Evaluates the information and makes a judgment on what meets
the needs of the specific clientele groups. Assists in promoting and marketing practices/strategies. During installation exercises and
other special conditions, performs all required procedures per local instructions. Sets up rooms to support meeting group needs.
Decorates facility or event area(s) to reflect holiday and/or program themes. Reports facility repairs, safety issues, and maintenance
requirements according to procedures. Assists in maintaining facility and equipment to meet operational standards. Works with other
staff members, volunteers and/or individual/personal services contract personnel. Enforces and adheres to all departmental and
command implemented guidelines, policies, and procedures currently in place or as they may be amended. Performs other duties as
required or assigned.

This position has physical lifting requirement which requires the incumbent to complete a favorable pre-employment physical.
A real id driver's license is required for employment and entry into JB Charleston AFB. A dependent Id or Common Access Card (CAC) can be used with a current driver's license.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience:
2 or 4 year degree in exercise science or related field preferred. Personal/Group Fitness training certification(s) from an NCCA
accredited entity (ACSM, ACE, NSCA, NASM, ISSA, etc.) preferred. Must have experience which provides a working familiarity with
the routines and procedures followed in fitness related activities or programs; and practical knowledge and/or experience of recreational
activities equipment, rules and procedures which involves recreational work in the area of specialty in which the position is assigned.
Must have Adult CPR/AED/First Aid certification or be able to obtain within 60 days of employment. Must have ability to communicate
professionally both orally and in writing. Must possess skill in dealing with the public. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a preemployment
physical. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI). Must be able to read,
write, and speak English. Work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing; recurring activities such as bending,
crouching, stooping, stretching, and reaching; pushing/pulling loaded hand trucks/carts; and recurring lifting of moderately heavy items.
Must be physically able to frequently lift and carry boxes or other pieces of equipment of up to 45 pounds.
Maintains current certifications in Adult CPR/AED/First Aid. Maintains NCCA accredited Fitness Certifications, if obtained. Provides
prompt and efficient customer service and assistance to both internal and external customers. Promptly and effectively assists in the
development, planning, and execution of all programs and events. Properly and promptly performs assigned and routine tasks.
Consistently maintains exercise rooms and areas in a clean, organized, and safe state per established parameters. Applies established
customer service practices, receives and greets visitors, answers questions, and promptly answers telephone calls. Effectively uses
computer software including email. Effectively assists in training new staff in all proper procedures and protocols. No more than three
(3) valid customer complaints in a six (6) month period. Maintains professional appearance and conduct at all times. Must submit
required reports and documents in proper format IAW proper procedures within time frames established by supervisor. Expected to
adhere to all fire, safety, and security regulations and practices with no more than one (1) violation per rating cycle.

Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does allow for education substitution.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
TRAINING
Meetings, conferences, workshops, and seminars as deemed appropriate. Safety, funds, resource protection, fire protection,
marketing, customer service, and other local, state, federal, and installation required training. Some training may require out of state
travel. Must obtain Adult CPR/AED/First Aid Certification within 60 days.
