Summary This position will be filled using Direct-Hire Authority for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) Facilities and the Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) in the Department of Defense. Learn more about this agency Duties Install and test a variety of electrical lines and circuits to components and devices. Disassemble, repair, troubleshoot and/or replace wire mold, wires and electrical components and devices. Make operational test and adjustments as necessary. Perform testing on electrical wiring by utilizing tools such as test lamps, voltage testers, ammeters, etc. Requirements Conditions of employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation; T1-NACI. This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position. This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations. The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles. This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time. Must obtain and maintain a Material Handling Equipment (MHE) license. Must obtain and maintain an aerial platform license. One-year probationary period may be required. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Electrical Worker ~ without more than normal supervision. I am able to perform common Electrical Worker Tasks1) Installing and testing a variety of electrical lines and circuits to components and devices; AND 2) Disassembling, repairing, troubleshooting and/or replacing wire mold, wires and electrical components and devices. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. PHYSICAL EFFORT Work involves frequent standing, stooping, climbing, bending, and kneeling; and occasionally works in cramped and awkward positions. Required to lift and handle objects weighing up to 20 pounds; often lifts and moves heavier objects with the assistance of other workers, lifting devices, and aids such as movable tables or jacks; required to use ladders in the performance of duties. WORKING CONDITIONS Work is usually performed inside well lighted, adequately heated and ventilated areas. Occasionally works outside in inclement weather. Subject to cuts, bruises, scrapes, sprains and strains from handling tools and installing equipment. Subject to burns from hot components, soldering, and electrical shock. Required to wear safety clothing and equipment appropriate for the position. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. This position requires a 1 year probationary period during which the agency evaluates your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest.
