Learn more about this agency Duties As a Construction Control Representative, incumbent is responsible for implementing the Government’s Quality Assurance Program and monitoring the contractor’s quality control and inspection program for assigned projects. Serves as Senior Construction Inspector for dredging, earthwork, bank stabilization, beach nourishment, fresh water control structures and a variety of other construction projects. Reviews project plans and specifications prior to and the during construction period to determine practicability from construction standpoint and whether physical obstructions or other construction difficulties have been anticipated. Reviews technical data and furnishes information for progress reports, prepares data for processing of pay estimates such as quantity of materials or equipment installations included in construction and percentages of work completed. Reviews contractor’s construction schedules and shop drawings and recommends approval/disapproval actions. Reviews plans and specifications for upcoming projects and provides input for inclusion into the solicitation. Consults with contractors and key district personnel on environmental issues that arise. Requirements Conditions of employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. This position requires the incumbent to possess and maintain a valid State Driver's License. This position may require TDY 25% of the time. The incumbent must complete a pre-employment physical and will be subject to periodic (e.g. annual) medical examinations following their appointment to determine fitness for the continued performance of the duties of the position. May be required to work in adverse weather conditions. Qualifications This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) announcement. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) performing Quality Assurance on construction projects related to sitework, grading and/or marine environments, 2) inputting data into various required database systems, and 3)conducting technical reviews of plans and specifications, Quality Control reports, Quality Assurance reports, and Contractor Daily Reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
