Summary
About the Position: This position is with the 10th MDG, Directorate of Clinical Support Outpatient Pharmacy, USAF Academy, Colorado
This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties
Ensure correct medication is placed in a properly labeled container and dispensed to the correct customer.
Consult with prescriber or pharmacist to clarify issues or problems with dosing, interactions, or instructions.
Develop and monitor plans to meet established DHA pharmaceutical purchasing benchmarks or targets.
Assign work to subordinates based on priorities of the outpatient pharmacy.
Coach and mentor subordinates. Create and manage staffing schedules.
Serves as the security manager ensuring security of the pharmacy stockroom.
Plans work to be accomplished by technicians in the section.
Operates the pharmacy automated inventory control and re-supply system.
Coordinates and assists with medication or device recalls in accordance with policies and procedures.

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
One-year supervisory probationary period required.
A pre-placement medical examination is required.
Must possess and maintain current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) by the American Heart Association or Red Cross.
This position is Inclement Weather Essential. This means that you must be willing to make every attempt to report for duty on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.
Must have current Pharmacy Technician Certification
This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
This position may require rotating shifts (i.e. work schedule that requires employees to continuously rotate from one shift to another at predetermined intervals).
This position may require the incumbent to work during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized experience: Supervisory Pharmacy Technician
One year of specialized experience that includes filling prescriptions and distributing pharmaceutical products; training or supervising staff in a pharmacy setting; managing inventory through proper stocking, storage, substitution, and disposal of pharmaceutical items; and using pharmacy-based computer systems to support prescription processing and inventory control.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you may qualify if your education meets the definitions below:
Education: One and a half years of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Pharmacology. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
OR
Combination of Experience and Education: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total semester hours minus 18) by 9. Add the two percentages.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university. This position requires a 1 year probationary period during which the agency evaluates your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest.
